Thoughts on S&W Mod 60

hunting deer with them is not too much of a stretch for them. I'd keep distances less than 50 yards and try for a heavy, hard cast bullet. 180 grains might be the best compromise of weight and velocity. Some like the 200 grain bullets. These will penetrate in a straight line. Hollowpoints and softpoints I don't think have the ability for the kind of deep penetration needed for big game hunting.
I'm thinking a 5" tube on a 60 is something akin to sacrilege, but your mileage may vary.

I may give them a try. I'll probably have to install it myself, as I would be looking at a varmint barrel, in order to turn it down to military contours. Then I would put military sights back on it.

Maybe I should just go whole hog custom!
