Thoughts on spyderco native s30v frn

I think the only issue I ever had with my Native was that my sensei liked it, so I gave mine to him. It turned me on to choils and is probably the only hollow ground knife I'd ever carry.

I have one i got in 2005 and i love it. Its my main EDC and been carrying it since then. Its the perfect EDC and stays super sharp.

I am waiting when the new version of Native coming out, since CF version with FFG does cost bit too much for me at this point. I've never liked the swedges on Natives and the Native 4 Carbon fiber costs arm and leg (though its worth of the price) But FRN S30V native is one of the best deals you can have for under $60.

Just bought one on the exchange, today. I always enjoy reading older BF thread's like this!

I may have got a dud, but mine had the worst S30V blade. Very chippy, got dull easily, and not in the same league as a Buck Vantage Pro (BOS heat treat). Not bad for the $35 I paid, but at $60 there are better options.

I guess they chose a new steel for the Native 5, because mine is in S35vn. Also, the best Spydercos folder I've owned and it ties with the BM Rift for the best folder I own. Those two really share my EDC pocket time.
