Thoughts on The Domino

Oh I just remembered how's the Blade Material:CTS-XHP perform ? I'm not a blade steel snob but was curious were it falls as far as hardness , how it takes and holds a edge .

Nice collection ! Love the middle finger flick . Started doing it with my YoJimbo 2 ever since I picked it up .[/QUOTE]

Thanks! Yup, I find it is my favorite way to open this bad boy even though the flipper works great.

On par with S30V imo, definitely belong to super steel category, I like it better than Elmax

On a good flipper I prefer using the flipper but it's fun to mix it up and nice to have options .

Me too!! I want to delete the flipper to give it a cleaner look
One of the things I like about Flippers though is normally when gripping the knife it makes a great stop to keep your finger from sliding up on to the edge when opened.

That's funny I've thought about removing the flipper too. I prefer to open it slowly with my thumb. Can't bring myself to do it since the thing flips so dang well!

I happened to get a dice into the shop today, so here are some comparison pics for you though I know there are others out there:

There's the choile there for ur index finger in front of the flipper, I find it very useful for delicate cuts/slices.... just don't use it to stab ur wife you will be just fine

Steve's incredibly fabulous to work with, although be warned all that he stocks his own special brand of Spyder venom. ;) A Ketchen-laced Spyder bite may be the most dangerous of all! I believe that I have the first Ketchen-ized Dice, in desert ironwood to match its big brother Domino (and a matching Southard and Native 5, warned you about Steve, didn't I?). Both are absolutely stunning pieces, made even better with bronze ano'd Casey Lynch clips on them.

And that stunner of Steve's in black and blue on page 1 of this thread? I'm pleased to say that's the newest addition to my Ketchen club. The Domino and Dice are fantastic knives in their own right, these mods take them to the next level for sure! Steve is a true master craftsman, and a true gentleman, keeping very much with the spirit of Sal, his company and forum, and the amazing tools they make. Cheers, DI (you may know me as Radioactive) :)

great comparison pictures - I need to get a Dice.

The Domino is one of the best designed knives you can get IMO. Great slicing blade, ball bearing flipper, ti frame-lock, 50/50 choil, replaceable steel lockbar insert, good size and great ergonomics.
Here's the Domino in the middle, with 5 knives slightly "larger" above it and 5 knives slightly "smaller" below it.
