It's forged out of 1095 and 15n20 steel for over 200 layers
I think it looks pretty good but is it a functional piece or just a decoration

It looks fine, Damascus blades have been used in knives for hundreds of years. Use it like a knife and you shouldn't have problems.

I was just told by certain people to ask the forum before buying to avoid stupid purchases like that schrade

Whoever told you that obviously just didn't like that Schrade, I think you should buy the knives that appeal to you. If you're worried about a knife, just do a google search of the knife with 'site: bladeforums.com' added to the search, and read the threads that come up.

Where is that knife from? Is it a Pakistani made from Vancouver or Oregon? If it is, we had a guy or group peddling their knives here. The claims didn't live upto the product by a long shot. Caveat Emptor. If you want something for looks and it's cheap then go for it. Personally, if I really wanted a nice damascus knife... I'd have a well known and trusted maker make something for me.
