I just saw the new G10 Espadas in Cold Steels catalog it looks pretty cool. I like the grey blade and black G10. Thinking about getting one if it's possible. What do you guys think about this knife and has anyone handled one in person?

I surely would love to have one, but I don't even know when they will finally become available...Kudos to Cold Steel for making them though, the original Espadas were a tad too expensive, IMO.

I want one just for the heck of it. My wife wants the small one so I am sure I'll end up getting that one first.

As soon as the XL Espada hits the store shelves I'll buy one. I love my Rajah 1&2. I know some will dismiss these large folders as a joke, but I'm 6'3" and I carry these big blades just fine. With my cwp I can carry any fixed blade I want in Idaho, but until I get my cwp for Oregon, stepping across the border with a hidden fixed blade is a no no.

while they wont be as nice as the original espadas, these are going to be awesome. people always thought the originals were a tad much, even when their were virtually no other knives in that size production wise to compare it to. i just may have to snag an original XL before they are all gone.

I think the new Espadas look better than the originals. I bought the original large Espada and it's a great knife, but I don't really need the shiny blade and the bolsters. I'm definitely getting the new XL Espada at the more affordable price, when it comes out.
Sometimes I think I have more than enough CS products but who else out there makes knives like this? I won't go so far as to say that the large and XL Espadas [ and the Rajahs ] make every other folder obsolete, but they do change the definition of what a "large" folder is.

I agree there just isn't any other folders out there like it, unless you have something made by a custom knifemaker and that would cost a heck of alot more.

Aesthetically I don't like the G-10 Espadas compared to the expensive ones (G-10 and beadblast too utilitarian for a design so absurd, for me). But at half the price it might be fun to get an XL just for the lulz.

I agree I like the looks of these much more than the original, the grey blade and black g10 just looks good to me.

I'm going to buy the XL as soon as they're available just because its ridiculous.

same...I bought a Rajah 2 for the same reason but it turned out to be much more practical than I had anticipated. I'm not sure the XL will be quite as practical but i'm not going to rule it out until I get one in hand.

(( Not a paid Bladeforums Dealer )) has been notified by Cold Steel to expect the first shipment in early May. He usually has the best prices on CS that I've found.

Sorry to necro this thread. I like the looks alot of the g10 Esparza but am a little put off by CS for some reason. Should that be a reason not to buy this knife?

No, it will probably be the strongest, most vicious folder in your collection.

I like 'em myself. The bead blasting I could do without, but the G10 scales are quite appealing. For practicality, I'd probably choose the medium sized one (relatively speaking), but if you're going to get a monster folder, the large one is the only way to go.
