Thoughts on the ZT 0462?

I’ve been eying this knife for some time but haven’t seen many posts of people actually opting for it as opposed to the other two models released thus far. It seems as if this model isn’t nearly as popular as I thought it may be. Does anyone have any first hand experience with this knife? It looks like a real nice model and quite the relative bargain for what you are getting in terms of materials, fit and finish, and what not. Thanks.

I did in fact get the 0393 first but I will definitely be getting a 0462
I’m considering getting one as well. I like the carbon fiber and the little tweaks they did as compared to the 0460. Other than just a size upgrade, of course.

I opted!

The first thing that you notice is how little the knife weighs. ZT went to great lengths to reduce the weight by extensively milling out the ti lock bar side. They even included a Zero Tolerance script inside the lockbar - a cool addition. I also really like the red carbon fiber scale, hopefully you can see the milling of the logo and the red in the CF in this picture, as well as the custom pivot hardware:

The knife is completely devoid of any markings on the CF side, which some people like the no-text look.

The curvy "Persian" design (my words, not Dima's) gives the knife a comfortable grip. The knife is very user friendly.

There are a lot of little details that you find, like the interesting and intentional texturing on the machined faces of the lockbar side of the knife, hopefully you can see in the following picture:

And when I say it is light, it is light even for a small knife, let alone a knife with this much blade!!

I note that the knife weighs the same as my Vic Waiter and my EDC Fenix flashlight -

And someone asked me to post an "in-hand" shot a while back - may as well include that here - I have XL hands -

If you are on the fence - jump! You can always sell the knife - ZT's tend to hold their value pretty well in my experience.

Thanks for the pics and impressions. This knife has such a high end look to it for a fraction of what other knives with the same materials cost. I saw on YouTube where a reviewer compared it to a Shiro. He claimed it was close in terms of fit and finish as well as action. ZT may be the best value of any knife brand out there right now

I'm hoping to find one locally the next time I get the new blade itch. It love the 450 (but I gave it to my little brother for detailing my car) and the 460 looked great, but the extra size of the 462 makes it more attractive to me.

I have all of the new 2018 releases so far, and the 0462 is my favorite of the bunch. I'm a huge fan of the Persian style knives, I just love the lines and flow of the design. I would agree that it's similar to the Shiro Sigma in many regards. Even if there is a 10% differential from the Shiro to the ZT, you're paying 5x the price to get it, not worth it for most.

Now, I would recommend the 0609 and 0393 if someone were to ask which to get, but that's only because they are more neutral in terms of design and grip. I think Persian designs as a whole are a more acquired taste. But this is the best production persian design that I can think of.

It looks like a very interesting and great knife, but let's be real and honest. $240 is not a fraction of any other production knives unless people have a different definition of "fraction." I will definitely not put any ZTs into the "bang for the buck" category although I think their prices are generally fair- neither too expensive nor too inexpensive.

It all depends on what you're comparing it to. The 0462 is based on the Polychotky design which Sinkevich built with Shirogorov as a custom Shiro. Direct price was probably $2k, now, much more. The Shirogorov Sigma is also fairly close in design, that knife is $1200 direct, assuming you win the chance to buy one in a lottery. At $240, some would say the 0462 is a bargain, but I certainly won't tell anyone what to think.

Great thread and comments!
For me the question will be 0462 or 0452. At least one of those will be in my stable before year’s end.

Well I own two BM Bedlams and this looks similar, I might actually carry this one as it has a better pocket clip and no protruding metal end piece to accidently hit my right hand against. Also its the only ZT this year that I think I will pick up, the other two models don't interest me that much.

i have one. great knife. carries light and doesnt crowd the pocket even though its a folding trailing point/persian.

good strong lock up. good fit and finish. a true winner for those who like persian shaped knives.

I’ve been eyeing this as well. Question for anyone who owns one; what is the length of the blade from tip to end of cutting edge? My state measures the edge not tip to handle and this seems to be the first knife I’ve looked at where the cutting edge is longer than tip to handle.

Thoughts? I need one. Stat. Not available at my dealer yet, but I am hoping this week, since the first ones seems to have landed at other European dealers. *fingers crossed*

We are out of stock currently but have more coming in tomorrow late day. If no one has answered for you by the time ours come in, I will measure and get back to you! I am not a fan of Persian style blades but have to admit the 462 has been calling my name. It is a really good looking blade.

Felt like more an art knife than a user to me. Flipper tab is pretty small, I had a hard time opening at times.

There’s some many things to like about it, but it just left me feeling cold. I ended up selling it on here.

Love the design of the knife. Almost want to buy one in fact. But as with most ZT Models, its got one thing stopping me, that being the size. 8.9 inches is a bit out of the range of what i generally carry. And the 0460 is too small, so.

Still might pick one up, but ill have to handle it in person first to make sure.

I like mine. The thinner handle/blade reminds me of the 452. Doesn't take up as much pocket space, good flipping action, red in the carbon fiber, Persian style blade makes for a blade with more belly which for me makes me use more of the blade than I normally would. I opted to get the 462 before the 393.

Cutting edge per our measurements is spot on 4". Hope this helps!

I'm on the fence. Guess I'm one of few who isn't wowed by the red CF. Hoping ZT will do a sprint iteration as they often do with so many of their models, featuring all titanium scales...the Polutchotkiy version. I'd be all over that.
