I have a new Mnandi that I bought and most times I like this back inlay, but sometimes I wonder if it is strong and durable...just obsessing no doubt.

Curious about your thoughts?

That's the one I was trying to buy, but, of course you have it now. I love it.

Looks great - I would have bought it as well. I wouldn't worry too much about the scale, especially if will not see any use. Congrats!

Thank you both. I loved the damascus on it immediately. I'm going to stop worrying.

I think you get a little bit of everything with that piece. It looks as though they took a few shades from every mammoth piece they had and blended all of them:)

That is a very interesting piece of mammoth. It is almost like you can see the different time frames of how it has aged. Very nice and unique piece of mammoth.

Thanks Tom for your reply.
I guess I was just worried about my purchase. I had to sell two nice Mnandi to obtain this nice one, so I always go through a little "did I do the right thing" stage.

I Wish I would have seen it before you pressed the Buy Button. It's Beautiful, Congratulations on all three.

Without knowing what you gave up for it i'll say you did the right thing. That's a beautiful piece. Mammoth is a great material and always a good choice.

Congrats:thumbup:

Great piece of ivory bark on your mnandi, Lisa. I believe the bark on the reverse side is even more interesting with the faint blue contrasts. I'm sure you can find a few buyers (ahem) should you ever decide to sell.

Thanks ParkinNJ, here's that other side, Neil took a great shot of it, so credit goes to him for the photo.

What an extraordinary piece! It's so hard to find MIB that has blues and greens in it nowadays. I love how the dark brown spots are sharp in the brown, and then diffused in the blue-green -- like pebbles in a beach scene. The damascus patterning goes well with the theme as well. Gorgeous, Lisa! Congrats on a great grab!
