Thoughts on this motor

You won't be disappointed.. I have their 3hp in 3600rpm, but pretty sure I'd be very happy with that as well.

I bought an Iron Horse 1.5 HP 115/220 single phase 1700 RPM. It has worked for about a week of hard use. It feels cheap and light on the housing compared to the Leesons I have used before. The cooling fan is also plastic. Other than that, no complaints.

Iron Horse are Ok motors. Definitely a "budget grade" motor, but perfectly serviceable.

I have that motor. Looks like they've raised the price since I bought it. At any rate, it's not a Baldor, or even a Leeson, but for the money, you can't beat it. Been running mine for going on a couple of years now, and it's been holding up fine.
I will say that one spot of the "TEFC" frame was NOT totally enclosed, but I simply put a piece of duct tape over it and have had zero issues otherwise.

There is nothing like handling an actual heavy duty build 3ph motor. This motor is 7hp and the size of a small car. Would make a sweet grinder lol

I get to man handle those on industrial washers and dryers at work. There have been many times I wished they were 2hp Ironhorse motors instead. :D Especially when there's no room for a lift.

I had the bearings go out on the 3hp on the top of my dust collector last year, I didn’t remember it being that heavy....had to go old school block and tackle on it. If it was something that size, I would look for youngsters..
