Please post what thoughts or improvements that you would like to see for the Military model, and your reasons for the mod.

I would like so see a standard production Military with a steel besides S30V.I feel that S30V is a good steel, but there are superior options available. How cost effective it would be to switch to another option is a question I am not qualified to answer.
best regards,

I would like to see a 4-way clip. I typically carry tip up FLP. But when I'm in the mountains/woods, I carry in a right phone/knife pocket. So switching a clip around is something I do on my PM2 and would like to do on a Military.

I'd also like to see a PM2 sized lanyard tube.

to be honest, s30v and zdp 189 are the only reasonably priced super steels around. i say offer the military even cheaper, using s30v, than the $155 i paid for mine.

I'm pretty happy with my Millies just as they are. Affordable and comfortable EDC, that's an admirable trait.

The only improvement I can ask for is 4-way clip (like on the PM2). Otherwise, the Millie is good all around and I carry it very often.

Not much to change imo, a 4 way clip would be nice. The steel is what it is. S30v is no slouch by any means. If you want it cheaper, it won't be made with "better" steel. 150$ is an excellent price range if you ask me. 30$ more than a pm2 and that diffence is easy justified for what you get.

If we are talking about Military2...

Last night, Post #32. Sal is willing to listen to ideas to throw around in the R&D.

I'd like to see it have things from the PM2 like bigger lanyard hole, tip up carry, screws like the PM2... Nothing too wild, I do not know how a stop lock works so I'll be conservative as I trust Sal and Eric's judgement.

...And as long as the Military2 isn't a Bento Box Shop exclusive I'm happy :p It won't, just putting it out there.:D

If we're talking about a Military1 CQI, other than the steel, it's probably gonna remain the same as many consider it a classic and I for one would like to see the original offered even when the Military2 comes out for the purist in me.

As for the steel, how about CPM-154?

As somebody said, larger screws, same size as the ones on the para 2 maybe? S30V works for me on a plain jane and so might XHP. If they can offer the GB at that price point with M4, maybe a regular production M4/G10 Military would be possible. :D

I wish they'd add the features of the Para2 - pillar construction, compression lock, pivot bushing system, and nice big screws.

Larger screws, flat pivot screw (vs. domed), cut away the handle so that the jimping on the choil is useful (you can tell it was made to be flush with the handle since the first versions didn't have jimping there, and now they cut away the blade to get the jimping, so it gets hidden to a degree by the handle)

First versions may not have had jimping, but they did have square notches in the upper and lower where the jimping now resides. And they were inside the scales on the lower as the new ones are.

Frankly, about the OP: I like my Millies just as they are. Would not ask for anything different. Do not want extra screw holes in the handle for different clip positions, like tip-down just fine thanks. S30V steel is awesome, about as good as the older versions 440V.

If a Millie II is offered, I for one will not be buying one.

I just modify them to get the features I want. Framelocks, pillar construction, premium steels...its fun making the knife my own. Tip up, tip down, doesn't matter to me. For a knife as large as the military, tip down actually works better.

Exactly. Tip down, when I remove the knife from my pocket, my thumb is already in close proximity to the opening hole, if not already in it. Tip up, I have to re-position to get my thumb there. I prefer tip down to tip up, which is why my Military's gets edced far more than my two Benchmade Rukus's.

...pillar construction, bigger screws, bigger lanyard hole, M4 steel. Honestly, I'd prefer a compression lock but I think that defeats Sal's initial design requirement that the knife be easy to use with gloved hands.

My guess is that there are a lot more "super steels" priced close to S30V. I do not consider S30V a super steel personally. For example CTS-204P on the PM2 exclusive was only $140. Factor in new green handle color, and small batch size, and that does not leave much money over a standard PM2 to be explained by the "super steel"

Exactly like the PM2 just larger.

Yep. It's probably just that simple. Tip down only is a deal breaker for me as I carry my keys on my knife (iwb) and don't want em hanging to my knees. (That sounds kind of Freudian, but whatever). Tip up carry and I would buy one, but sure, I'd like all the other pm2 features too...lanyard larger hole, screws etc.

pillar construction, bigger screws, CPM-M4 & M390 in Ti handles, that's pretty much how I like my Militaries. The DLC & CF frankenmillie is pretty cool as well, and I upgraded the screws in that one too.
