You say that will be your edc now...until the 2018 catalog is released! :D

That is a good choice though.

I know I know...

But I do plan on sticking with this as an EDC. We're not in a bad place financially at all but if I focus our extra money in a couple of places this next year we could go from being good to great. Knives are gonna have to wait then I can buy more knives. :)

Good post.

Part of the fun of this new (to me) hobby is trying and carrying different knives.

My standard 551 Grip gets a lot of pocket time, it so will my soon to be delivered Bugout. Also a couple of other brands get used a lot.

I go thru the same thing with bass guitars, flashlights and other items I’m interested in and have multiples of. Collector mentality, but once I find what works best for me, I tend to stop or slow down my buying/collecting.

Luckily I haven’t really got caught up in the whole super steel thing though. :)

A Mini Grip is next on my list and the size does seems perfect for an EDC.

Same here especially with basses. :)

You on Talkbass?

I've never been much of a collector (my wife would probably disagree). I go through a lot of variations of "a thing" until I find that elusive right one for me. Then I sell off the others that didn't work as well. I've done that with firearms, guitars, bicycles, and of course knives. Now and then my tastes change and I have to reevaluate, so the process might start over, but usually when I find something I really like (940 for example) I stick with it for a while.

Here's the Pioneer that will accompany the Grip on this journey. It was given to me by my wife/kids.

2017 was the year of the mini-grip for me, companied by the forum barlow when that became available. Love a good sheepsfoot for EDC.

Excellent. Plans for 2018?

My old man has carried his Mini Grip for 5 years. Still looks/functions great.

Honestly, probably going to carry this one again for 2018 but eventually I'll probably find myself with one of the custom shop dealies and upgrade to an M4 blade and some different color pattern. I keep thinking it would be neat to do like a black right (outer), orange left (inner) scale or something else like that. Makes it carry discretely but in hand it will have that color pop that seems to keep people from viewing it like a weapon around the office. That's how I ended up with the light blue, and I like the color a lot. I've contemplated a blue orange as well, which are the colors of my alma-mater.

I have a few fixed blades with pocket sheaths that are high on my list of possibilities like this guy from the forum maker's market. I actually carry this in my work bag so it's kind of already an EDC and I get it out if I have to put together office furniture or we have a big delivery of supplies for the day and I'll be tearing through a lot of cardboard.

Actually, just remembered I have a BM sequel I've been hoarding that I was able to get for a great price right after they were disco'ed. That is also a great knife but has a little more of a tactical look so I was apprehensive about using around the office so it's been a safe queen since I bought it earlier this year. I'm a sucker for metal scales.
