Linen Thread - 5 cord left or right hand twist is a good all purpose thread - for a heavy look 6 or 7 cord should work:

I have not used the less expensive Hungarian thread myself so cannot offer an opinion (some folks I respect said that have said they've gotten too much breakage for their liking) whereas I have used the Barbour's for close to 50 years and will use nothing else as long as it's available.
