Thread for showing off Custom Sheaths.

Moving steady no breaks. Small sheaths take about 2 hours if I'm using a liner. The 2 pieces of leather have to be cut out to match each other. Then spread contact cement on both sides and cover completely. I use a heat gun to warm the 2 halves but not enough to over heat. This helps the contact cement dry so I can put them together. Then use a roller to smooth. I then trim any extra overlap. Stitch around the perimeter to make sure the 2 halves never seperate. Then measure and cut the welt. Sew the belt loop down. Then cement the welt to the front and back. Then stitch, sand and burnish.
Dang if that’s all there is to it I could have made it Lol .

Your knife will look good in that. Once I get some money together in gonna habe him put one together for my 143 paklite. Cheap little knife but its my favorite and I want a nice sheath for it when the funds are available lol
and Mak you make it look easy with the quality of work and how quick you post the pics.

Mak back a few pages you mentioned something about "One Working Thumb" you sure do nice work without one, what happened?

Still attached, snapped the tendon that raises your thumb,. If I raised my hand for a high five my thumb sticks straight forward. At first I thought my sheath building days were over, over time my hand has found slightly different ways to accomplish tasks.

In October I actually sliced the tendon in half. They went in and sewed it back together. The pin was in the bone to keep it straight while the tendon healed. Feel ur pain.

Docs told me they couldn't reattach. The option was to move 1 of 2 tendons from my pointer finger over to my thumb. I declined due to unknown mobility improvement vs no surgery

That looks sore!

Ouch. That looks like it came out of a meat grinder. I can only imagine how much that hurt, especially with that pink jammed in there.
