I was going to say that most of those "mid sized" Corbys are either 6/32 or 8/32 in my experience. I have used them on numerous occasions hard soldered to the underside of the buttcap on knives with the end of the tang threaded.

yea, that is what I'm planning to do. use the female end to hold a handle onto a threaded tang.

Piece of advice. Grind down the head to no more than about 1/3 the original length and true it up on the lathe or by chucking into your mill or drill and running it down onto a file or something similar. Then machine pocket in the buttcap. I use cheap Home Depot small c-clamps in my bench vice to hold everything in place while I had solder because it will move when that solder starts melting. I have used a "clevis" setup on big knives because getting the alignment right when you screw the cap on can be a little tricky.
