Threads Deleted

I agree with Bandaidman- lock but leave for all to see and judge for themselves, this would be consistent with moderators in other forums.

Brian, you da man! They don't dare fire you for deleting the threads: they would lose way too many of us. Despite what bandaidman & martin say, you did what was right. When we all slow down to see the accident it results in a traffic jam.

Thanks for having the b@lls to do what you needed to.

I think Mr. Jeff Randall was an excellent writer/teacher and his knowledge will be greatly missed. But everthing comes to an end. Like he said with every bad thing comes some good. The moderator had to do what he felt was best for the forum and hopefully it was.
Mr. Randall is already back on his feet with another publication, so maybe this is just a new begining for everyone.

They should have been left intact. People could have read, and formed their own opinions and drawn their own conclusions.

Now, any references will be heresay, and will take the tone/slant/opinion of the person commenting on the thread.

In the long run, that could be worse than what was actually said.
IMHO, it was a mistake to delete them.

I agree with thatmguy, they should have just been moved, not deleted. Isn't the good the bad and the ugly the place for that sort of stuff?

Will

Thatmguy and the others are right: I should have copied the threads to the back end at at least, but I did the deletion, and this post announcing it, while I was hot under the collar about the whole thing and, in my impulsive anger, just hit that old delete button.

Won't happen that way again, guys, but hopefully, we won't see any more public personal battles.

So, please accept my apologies. I've had a nice weekend to get some better perspective on it all.

Thanks, and I appreciate the notes of support as well.

Best,

Brian.

Brian, you're the moderator and a great guy to boot. I highly respect you and if you did what you thought was best for the forum then I'm not going to question it. If people want to pick at old scabs and keep the pot boiling, that's their problem. I think soap operas thrive in a toxic atmosphere but I don't think forums do. Let sleeping dogs lie and get on with more substantive topics. Great job, Brian!
