In these uncertain times knife movement has been slow so I am offering some low price point blades here. I have some 15N20 steel left from my days of forging damascus (it's the shiny part of the forge weld) that I used on these knives. 15N20 is a fine grained steel, tough and often overlooked as a stand alone on a blade. I have read a lot of reviews of the steel and have not found any bad statements, in fact most express positive views. Google has a bunch of blogs on the subject. I will often test my blades by slicing paper before and after I chop a nail in half so I added a very bad photo of the results; no edge damage either chipping or rolling the edge, Considering the toughness of the steel I tempered to approximately Rc 61 which I thought might chip the edge in my testing, it survived just fine and l feel comfortable with it after abusing it in a nail chop.
I patterned these knives after the Canadian Belt Knife only much larger. My biggest objection to this style is that it is often difficult to remove from the scabbard because of the taper to the butt so I added a lanyard and antler button to help slide it out. The knives are very cofortable in the hand with the palm swell that I scupted into the handle.
