Good grief Jens! Were you just sitting at your screen waiting for DOTD? I am digging the Chit. 20.5" at skinny 24 ounce? Big and fast blade! And the unfinished look adds to its charisma :)

and where was ndog this time? Like that Chit with the KLVUK woodie!

And at the back of the pack in an also ran position bawanna comes draggin his sorry backside into the feeding frenzy. That Chitlangi sings to me but alas Ndog got furloughed so I'm gonna be a happy observer today. What doe Ndog being furloughed have to do with bawanna's knife addiction you ask? I haven't a single clue. I'll get back to ya on that one.

Means he aint got no Khukri money!

I get that, what does your not having any khukri money have to do with me not having any khukri money. That is the question?
Don't think too hard on it though, I know all that thinking gives me a headache so I try to avoid it much as I can.

I am new to this site. What a really cool site and forum you all have created. I hope to be a KUKRI owner soon, as well as my Father. looking for something "special" for him. He's been. Through a lot adversity to put it mildly, and I want to get him a KUKRI. They are like my Father in a lot of ways, meaning nearly indestructible. To everyone out there. Have a great day. I look forward to sharing my personal experiences with you all and making new friends along the way. Thanks, Ted

Welcome to the forum tedward! Give us a brief description of your dads blade needs...chopper,fighter, all around etc. And we can point you to some models that he would be proud to own! Look forward to hearing your experiences! Check out the website for a wealth of info on the models and their makers! Enjoy!

Welcome, Ted!

I hope you find what you are looking for, let us know if we can help somehow.

Thanks for making me feel welcome guys! I am looking to purchase a kukri for myself and my father.

My father, paul, has been through a lot. He survived a war. He was in the tank core in the army. He took shrapnel, he was stabbed also. He came back to the us and while working construction took a 30' fall onto concrete which broke both his ankles, wrists, and damaged his back. He was in traction for over a month. He has had gall bladder cancer, skin cancer twice, and prostrate cancer, and still battles cancer that started 30 years ago. He is now 82 and still takes chemo shots to keep the cancer from spreading. He often feels sick and dejected and has the right to after all he's been through.

My father is tough. I love him with all my heart. I want to get him a kukri
because of what they represent. Tough, strong, elegance, wisdom, survival and
strength. Can you help me to pick out something special for him, and what manufacturer/retailer to get it from? Thanks, ted

Your dad sounds like a tough ol bird, Ted. What kind of guy is he? Would he appreciate a big bruiser or whould something lighter be more his speed? There are so many khuks to pick from. The good news about HI...you can't make a bad decision;)

Let us know what you think he'd like, and we'll make some suggestions:)

I doubt he's gonna be hacking thru jungle for any length of time so I'd suggest something special.
Might check with Auntie and see if she has anything that fits the "special" bill. Maybe a Hanuman, or one of the ones with a nice carved handle.

You asked about a manufacturer retailer, stay right here with HI. Nothing better out there, everything else is also ran. These are the real deal.

I for one would be happy to help with the purchase for whatever amount I can come up with. I'll be happy to check with auntie on your behalf and see what she has available. If she has something on hand that fills the bill she'll have it to you wicked fast.

Let me know and we (you, me, the whole gang here, and of course auntie) will get to work making this happen.

Tedward - your dad sounds like a tough one, just like mine.

You know, Bawanna is right, your dad isn't going to be doing any rough work, it'll be more of a functional display model. I'd suggest something nice and beautiful with really nice lines, and maybe an engraving or two on both sides of the blade to make it "his".

Welcome as well!

For a gift for your father I suggest something a bit more ornate than usual, like this Butterfly Ang Khola that was sold recently on the forums:

What about for you?

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND GENUINE CONCERNS. IT IS SO COOL TO HEAR FROM ALL OF YOU. IT'S COMFORTING TO KNOW SOMEONE CARES. THANK YOU! I SHARE THE SAME OPINIONS AS YOU ALL. HIS DAYS OF RUNNING WITH INDIANA JONES ARE WELL BEHIND HIM. HE IS RETIRED NOW, BUT WAS A CRAFTSMAN FROR OVER 40 YEARS, BUILDING FURNITURE, WELDING AND CUTTING, MAKING CANNONS, WORKING ON FIREARMS, SO HE WOULD APPRECIATE THE ORNATE TYPE OF KUHKRI, OR PERHAPS EVEN THE WORLD WAR 2 TYPE. HE IS NOW 82 YEARS OLD AND STILL PRETTY SHARP, BUT HIS BODY IS GIVING IN. IT HURTS TO WATCH, BUT HE WAS TOLD IN 1980 BY A SPECIALIST HE SHOULD SAY HIS GOOD BYES BECAUSE HE HAS 6 MONTHS TO LIVE. HE LOOKED AT THE SURGEON AND SAID, "I'll go when I'M ready to go!" AND HE'S STILL HERE. HE'S BAD TO THE BONE I TELL YA!
I WAS GOING TO GET IT ENGRAVED FOR SURE. I DIDN'T KNOW IF HI WOULD DO THAT, OR IF I HAD TO HAVE THAT DONE LOCAL HERE IN ST LOUIS. IT WOULD BE SUPER COOL IF THEY WERE TO DO IT, FOR SURE!
AS FOR ME, IM 6'3 and 300 lbS, SO I AM NOT REALLY. LIMITED TO ANY SIZE OR WEIGHT PERSAY. I WOULD LOVE TO OWN ONE OF EACH LIKE MOST EVERYONE ON HERE. I LIKE THE CHITLANGI, SIRUPATI, CHIRUWA, KOBRA, WWII........ALL AWESOME. I THINK I'LL START WITH ONE, AND TRY TO GET ANOTHER ONE SOON AS I CAN.
IF YOU WOULD CONTACT YANGDU AND REPRESENT ME, THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. YOU GUYS OBVIOUSLY KNOW THE INS AND OUTS AND WHAT CAN BE DONE. I WOULD BE FOREVER GRATEFUL. I WROTE HER AND ASKED WHAT SHE THOUGHT. SHE EMAILED BACK RIGHT AWAY AND SAID BRITISH SERVICE MODEL. SO PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU GUYS THINK. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU AGAIN. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME! HAVE A GREAT DAY, Ted Metzger
