Three Day Get Away

Nothing like a few days in the woods. Cooking over a fire is the best way to cook, too. Looks like a good time

Your picture taking skills are amazing as always ! I might have to go raid the fridge now, thanks to the the chow pics.

G'day Brian.

Some fantastic pics of a great location

I'm always taken with how green the outdoors look in your pics :D

Apparently Dragonfly mating creates a lot of friction or water is needed for the fertilization process...Couples would repeatedly fly down to the water, disengage long enough for the one to drop down and dip their tail in the water and then re-engage.

...I think the dragonfly was laying the eggs in the water, as the male of the species typically retains its hold after through fertilization, and sometimes throughout the entire egg laying process....
I agree with J Williams.

The female is laying her eggs into the water

The eggs will hatch into mudeyes, that spend this part of the life cycle in water.

When they are ready, they'll climb out onto waterside rocks / tree stumps etc to hatch into adult dragonflies.

Trout absolutely love mudeyes, especially big old brown trout :D

Take care Brian

Kind regards
Mick

Yeah its interesting how they spend most of their lifecycle in the water. Dragonflies are are great.

man that looks like a great trip! im hoping to go do some exploring soon. steak and eggs in the outdoors....priceless :)

when we first moved into out house our catchment tank had a ton of mudeyes...ugly lil buggers!

Hullo Mick,

Nope...not today...lol, been busy playing catch-up...you know how it goes.

That's great news I'll check it now

Nice pics. That is a nice area and since you live on Signal it is in your backyard!

I like the pic on snoopers rock. The management team for these locations many years ago picked out so many nice overlook sites of the gorge.

I do miss this terrain. :(

Thanks again for sharing your trip. Brings back memories....
