Thanks for the pics. I love the pics of water, always the best in my opinion. Like your water system as well, pretty cool. Sucks that people left the area a mess... it happens too often these days.

Fantastic pics bro!! Sorry you found the mess, I really hate it when that happens. I never get to go out without having to haul someone else's garbage back out with me...another reason I tend to travel light these days.

You definitely made the best of it though. Camp looks great, the food looks awesome! Those water course shots are fantastic, I love spending time next to a running creek in peaceful meditation. I love the bug shots, I'm ever drawn to photograph insects myself.

I got a start myself yesterday from a hen turkey...but you can read about that in the thread

Hey Rock great thread all around.

Is that the Blackbird Warbonnet? I'm trying to decide between it and a Clark Jungle hammock right now and would appreciate any thoughts on it.

You have an incredible talent Brian! I was trying to keep track of my dog, scout out fishing holes and avoid twisting my ankle on the trail...getting the camera shots were a fumbling experience:o Flora isn't too hard, but the fauna just doesn't like to cooperate most of the time:D I can say that I slept well with the creek in the background...it was quite peacefull

Thanks crossada; it's a Warbonnet. I can't compare it to the Clark Jungle hammocks, but I've used Hennessy, Speer, Mosquito and even ENO hammocks. The Warbonnet is pretty simple with great features. I also like the separate rain fly (I'm using a 10x12 Eqinox sil-fly) so I can work/cook under cover to include set up and break down of camp if it's raining. It also gave enough room for the dog and all the gear as we did get some rain Saturday night. My plan is to pick up a new Warbonnet and give my wife my older one as she's using a Hennessy...which is great for the summer, but when the temps get into the 50's up in the mountains early spring/fall, you really need that extra layer with sleeping pad.

I do like the weight capacity of the Clark hammocks but the new Warbonnet's can go up to 400 pounds; not that I need even half that, but it's comforting to know:D Tough call, I don't think you could go wrong with either one. It looks like the Clark hammocks do have more features for colder weather, but once temperatures get so low that you need an underquilt, you lose the weight/bulk advantage of the hammock. I would really like to try out a Clark hammock someday but for now, I'm very satisfied with the Warbonnet and it's held up well from several trips over the last couple of years.

ROCK6, I like your setup. Been wanting an Alite Monarch for years but I can never seem to justify the added weight... My style of backpacking is more high speed ultra light... plus with the hammock I already have a chair! Great to see a fellow hammocker on the forums. This setup kept me dry in torrential, pouring rain... while my coworker (not pictured) got soaked in his solo tent.

I can answer questions about the CJH but I have never slept in any other camping hammock. I do have a Grand Trunk Ultralight that I use for lounging when car camping and on day hikes, however. And I do plan on picking up a Hennessy Explorer relatively soon.

Very easy to see why your wife was upset she couldn't make it. That's a beautiful area and some sweet gear porn bro!

Thank you sir, I appreciate the compliment. I was driving my father nuts with the cost of film development when I was ten, and that was 36 years ago. Thank goodness for digital cameras! I know what you mean though, the fauna doesn't always like to cooperate...and neither does the flora for that matter :)

Fumbling or no, I still much enjoyed the photos bro. Been years since I wandered that forest. If you were just out of Turnerville that is only about 80 miles from me, I need to get back down that way again soon.

Thanks carrot. The Alite Monarch is about as compact and as light as you can get for a complete backpacking chair…it does fold down very small. I will admit, it’s very much an unnecessary comfort item; but dang if it isn’t cool:D The four things that got attention from the couple of passerby’s were the dog, my Martin Knives’ BT (two guys saw it and asked about it), the Warbonnet and my funky little chair! I didn’t really need the chair…plenty of flat rocks already available, but I still enjoyed lounging, relaxing, reading and sitting at the fire to cook with it. My introduction to hammocks was the Clark and I’ve purchased just about everything but the Clark. Regardless, hammocks are by far the best shelter outside of very cold temperatures.

Great photos Rock

Always look forward to your posts

Thanks bro…likewise,

Thanks Rock for the info!

You’re welcome, but I’d hit up carrot if you have any specific Clark hammock questions,

Thanks Tony; I’m blessed with the best woman I could imagine. We both enjoy hiking and backpacking together and she would rather be camping in a tent or hammock instead of an RV…oh, and the more remote the better :D

I can only imagine as photography was always expensive growing up as a kid…I never got into photography because the PITA of film and cost. Digital cameras (and photo software) really helps amateurs jump into the hobby or just enjoy it for little cost beyond the camera. Costs can go up, but getting that immediate feedback on your photos is priceless.

Yeah, you’re not too far away and I’ve wanted to get up to your neck of the woods. Maybe an in-between WSS, BCUSA or other forum get together. There are still many areas in the immediate Chattahoochee National Forest that I want to explore…

Yay for the bushpot. I picked up one to see if I can replace my Zebra with something lighter, haven't had a chance to use it yet.

What a coincidence
Last night there was a program on called
'Finding Bigfoot
and evidently there are quite a lot of sightings
in Chattahoochee National Forest
The program show more of that beautiful area.

Its sure is compact, I own 2, one for me and the other for my daughter, Ive used it in 2 parade routes so far and am quite pleased with how small, lightweight, and still comfortable the thing is. However, getting into one when drunk is a bit tricky. I will be taking them out next weekend when me and my daughter head up to the Unitas. So cant wait.

Great photos, story and thank you for sharing. I included this photo for those who do not know how small the thing is packed up.

I work in a place that sells them and I always go sit in them during my breaks. I want one very badly but again, no matter how light, it's one piece of gear I don't need to carry and that's more ounces that can go towards food! I guess they'd be great for dayhikes but honestly I'm always happy to be stretching out on a flat rock.

Thanks Spoolup...they do pack up very small for a chair which is quite comfortable. It does take some sober finesse to get into them but once you get the hang of it, they are quite handy.

Great pics Rock. Is Panther creek up near Clayton?

About 15 miles south on 441...just north of Turnerville...it's not on the main 441, but the "Histortical 441" route that runs parallel.
