Three Fine FFG knives (pics)

I have a few of the BHK sheaths in a box somewheres. Those monthly knife specials of theirs are murder on the pocket book. My Bush sheath will fit any of those knives. I could really use an anvil like that too for the future knifemaking to come.

It's a Hay Budden, and although it's seen better days, it is the best anvil I've ever hit. Love that old rascal. Getting my smithy finished up in the next week or so and will start some serious making.

Can't wait to see what you come up with. Another 18-24 months I planned on taking 6 months off and go play with steel for awhile.
I'm doing things backward, Most knife makers have about 0 interest in sheath making.

Thanks ' I love the 4-5 inch blades also. I am still breaking in my 16 but can't stop looking for the next knife. +1 on the orange scales.

I started making handgun sheaths before coming to knives... makes sense to me. :-)

Nice blades, Trade. Have you considered re-shaping the bhk handle?

I have and probably will. An experiment turned out to be the best handle I've tried yet. This one.

I plan to use this as a starting point for the first few I make.

Which BHK sheath holds the BK16 best ya think? I've been looking at those and the Bark River sheaths for a replacement.

I'm thinking the Skystorm one.....:D

The one I have it in is a "large".

I hear ya, love the looks of that knife.

Some nice steel displayed on this thread tw.

Nice blades. The BHK Bushcrafter is the only blade I regret selling. I just sold my ESEE-4 last week and don't miss it, but that bushcrafter...*sniff*...I shoulda kept her. Oh well...

I have printed out that Old Hick picture and plan on trying something like that myself. (Though I doubt that it will turn out even close to that nice!)

I honestly don't use a lanyard on anything smaller then a 9...unless it's real small like a 11, then I might put a pocket pull-lanyard on it. A bushcraft size knife dont need a lanyard in my humble (and prolly flawed) opinion.

I've got an affinity for full flat ground 4-5 inch belt knives. They are just so damned handy in so many situations, so here is a photo comparison of three that I've used extensively. Three great American knife companies all exceptionally well made. They compare favorably at all the various bushcraft tasks. The ergonomics are quite different but they all fit my hand. I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite.

BHK Bushcrafter in O1

ESEE 4

And of course, our beloved BK16. The BK16 and ESEE have been stripped and the spines squared for use with a fire steel. The 16 is currently riding in a spare BHK sheath. Couldn't go wrong with any of these.

Looks like we have some similar tastes in steel (lol)

Mine: Benchmade Pardue Rant, BHK, BK 17, ESEE 4, Mora Bushcraft

But prob. bunch of folks here with this combo. - like you said, all work well

Pics can be deceiving Thrill. That OH may not be as small as it looks by itself. It started out as a 12" butcher knife, now the blade is 5 3/4 and the handle is 5".

When the Warrior gets home from KY I'm going to send it to him for his opinion on the handle ergos.

LOL ''lil feller'' is just an affectionate term. I knew it had to be at least tweener size if not longer. Dubz is home now.

I have been looking for OL Hickorys, aint seen one yet, I saw em all the time when I wasn't looking for them...
