Three Grand Knives * WINNERS ANNOUNCED PG. 3 *

Jeff,

Thank you for the great Give Away.

Thank you for your many contributions.

To all posters in this thread (in or out for the Give Away), my sincere thanks and appreciation.

Reading many of your comments, I was reminded that this BF Forum is one of my great knife experiences. Seeing beautiful knives I did not know existed, and will never own or handle.

My best knife experience is every day that I have a sharp cutter in my pocket or in easy reach when I need to cut food without ripping or tearing it.

I have that wonderful experience almost every day, except when in government buildings.

Thanks for the link, Ted. I'd never read your old thread. Dinkum stuff.

This isn't an entry, but my best knife memory is of Dan, a Group Engineer with 40 years of seniority, who mentored me and and all the other young research engineers who reported to him back in the day. Among other things the lab did was to make sheets of special rubber material which was used on miscellaneous aircraft. The rubber was cast using a finicky process in the afternoons and left to cure overnight. Dan and I would use our pocket knives to trim them to size in the morning. The trimming was the easy part of the operation and we would talk as we trimmed the sheets. I learned a lot about engineering and life in general from Dan. Heckuva guy.

I was in a confined work space and needed a mirror to read a serial number off of the back side of a pump that needed replacing--no mirror, but I had my Wenger SAK and the blade was bright enough that I was able to read the SN off the reflection. Saved me a trip to the truck and my bud on the other end of the phone was suitably impressed...

Thank you so much for such a generous giveaway. My most fond knife memory was when I inherited my grandfathers box of knives. Each was well worn and most had a blade snapped off which I am pretty sure is the reason I cannot let a knife sit unused. I only own a few and they all get used. The coolest part was in with gramps knives were some awesome arrowheads he had also collected.

Thanks again for the chance I will take 687.

Nick

Congratulations on 3000 posts, and thank you for your very generous giveaway! I'll make this brief as I see you have only 3 posts to go!

The memory that always sticks with me is learning how to clean a trout with my dad. I used a Schrade 1940T that was the first knife I had bought on my own. I still have that knife. It's a little loose and missing some of the tip, but I learned a lot of proper tool use with that knife.

I'll take # 610

Alrighty then, this is my 3,000 post, so the contest is CLOSED.
