Three great things about the Persistence

Chewy... yes...a "P" with a blade the shape of the Delica blade... sleeker, FFG of course. I'd snap one of those up in a hot hurry too. I can see a number of potentially very popular knives based around the concept of the "P".

The "T" and the "P" have a bigger sibling coming out this year. The "R" for "Resilience". Designed by Eric. It's about the length of the Police3 (4.3" blade)

Sal... any chance for a slightly smaller version of the "P"?

It seems there's a significant hole in the Spyderco line-up between the "P"/Sage size models and the much smaller G10 Dragonfly.

I'm especially interested in finding something with about 2.5" to 2.7" FFG VG-10 blade with G10 or CF scales, lockback or liner lock, Japan or Taiwan build quality.

Sal,

I'll bet there are at least as many of us who want a smaller P as there will be for customers of the new R.

Speaking of size ...I snapped a quick side-by-side of the Persistence next to a Military for comparison...

- I think I'd also be interested in an even smaller version of the P.

Eric has a design for a smaller version as well. We're waiting for a prototype.

The Tenacious family is made in China so we use Chinese made steels. To make the model in Japan with VG-10 and carbon would increase the price by 5 times. We'd also have to re-tool for the same model. That's not very practical and would also knock out other potential models that are waiting for that production slot.

That's fantastic news! Thank you.

I understand. And, along with many others I'm sure, greatly look forward to the upcoming "smaller-than-the-P" member of the Tenacious family!

Also... any chance that there will be a ressurection of the Cat, even if at a higher price point???

Sal,

Eager to see the forthcoming smaller P!

Meanwhile, I just received my new backup -- a second P just in case......well, just in case!

F&F matches that of the first. These are among the best bargains in your house.

flash900... my first P has sort of a matte finish on the edges of the liners and my second P has more polished edges (the polished look a bit spiffier). How are the edges on yours finished?

Hmmmm.....If I have to choose, I'd say more polished than matte finish.

The knives appear to be identical in finish and nearly every other way except for one minor thing: look at the three small holes on the other side from the clip....the three holes near the blade, not those at the bottom of the handle.....my first P has silver colored metal underneath the three holes.....the second P has metal that appears copper colored. .....I'm no engineer and I can't tell what part this is, but it is visible through the holes.

I'm not in any way suggesting there is anything significant going on here. Both blades have what I would describe as top drawer F&F.

The P is a terrific knife, and not just for the price.

Sorry, no photos!

Sal... I just received two Cats (my first in-person experience with one) today and all I can say is that the Cat is, for me, the perfect "tween" size to bridge the G10 Dragonfly (awesome knife!) and the Sage 1. If the forthcoming smaller version of the Persistence is similar in size to the Cat, I think that would be a great thing.

Sal,

I love my Persistence and it is the knife that is most likely in my pocket everyday. However, I would like to suggest that the screws for the pocket clip be made a tad harder. I've been very careful with mine and still I managed to strip two of the three.

I must say that I picked mine out from three samples that my dealer had on hand and all three were different in the way the locking liner protruded from the G10 scales. The other two samples were "prouder" (is that the right term) than the one I got. The other two had smoother actions but I thought I'd take the more recessed liner for safety preferences.

Great knife for the money. I think they'll make great gifts for my best buddies this year.

I really dig my Persistence. I bought it after I gave my Tenacious to a friend for their birthday. I was missing the blade shape and I didn't have any other Spyderco blades at the time. I carry this a lot now, great knife.

Question; I really like the Persistence and havsn't owned a Spydie for some years now. Can you disengage the liner if you grip it hard? Same goes for Military, will that cut out result in disengagement? thanks, I dig both of these models a bunch from the pics i've seen but the cut outs make me a bit nervous.
