I would like to know what you consider emergency supplies, or if you just use the general/basic emergency kits offered at different websites...
Let's see... In my desk right now I have: an Altoids tin first aid kit (just the basics, we have full trauma kits across the lab), a gallon of water, some snacks that I cycle through regularly, a lighter, and a flashlight. And really, that's major overkill - all I really need is the ability to patch myself up and get out of the building in the event of a substantial earthquake. If there's a building collapse I'm all sorts of screwed no matter how prepared I am, as there's a synthetic chemistry lab directly above me. From there I can walk home in about 15 minutes; I only drive to work at most once a week.
My car has a couple cases of bottled water, a KaBar USMC, 100 ft of paracord, some snacks, first aid kit, and a lighter. Seeing as I rarely drive anywhere, I'm not too concerned about having an apocalypse kit at the ready in the car.
In my apartment I have my backpack all packed up and ready to go, set up for base camp style backpacking (about 50 lbs of gear). A week's worth of freeze dried food, backpacking stove, fixed blades, tent, sleeping bag/pad, paracord, fire starting materials, water filtration, etc. I also generally have one week minimum of normal food in the apartment, 5+ gallons of water, a big first aid kit, guns, and a decent stock of ammo.
It's probably more than I need in a realistic emergency scenario, but I don't have any gear I don't use (except for a few safe queen knives, I suppose). The backpacking kit gets used a couple times a year, and I don't lose anything by keeping it stocked and ready to go. I bought the guns for the range, not emergencies - but they're nice to have if I ever need them.
