I have one on the way.
I'll be able to post pictures with it in hand in order to better illustrate the size.

Yes this is a 4 1/2" blade with a 105 handle. The 102 was much to small for this blade.
Sounds perfect (like my 117 Brahma). Can we expect variations to this 117 like
Cocobolo handle and 5160 steel down the road?
I'll post pictures tomorrow.
Here are the pictures of the new 117.
I placed it among two other bucks to more clearly illustrate its size.It is bracketed by the 105 and the 102.
In my opinion it's the perfect size.
That 117 is awesome, and I like how it only has a couple finger grooves in the handle.
I love the size too. The 102 is too small for me. Here it is with my 102 and 119. The sheath that comes with the 117 is for a 105, which is stamped on the back.
I love the size. They could even go slightly larger imo but I am real happy about the 117. Thank you C&C and Buck. Ordering was a breeze
Actually if anyone knows where I can find one of these sheaths for the 105, please let me know. It should fit the 117My 117 arrived today. I really like this knife. I prefer it to my 102 and 105.
I just wish they would have went with the old style fold over sheath like they did with the fixed version of the 110

Congratulations on your new 117.
I believe the 117 and the 103 would make the perfect pair for dressing and skinning any game on this continent.
Here's an idea. How about a new set of knives in a single old style sheath, such as a 103 and 117 called the "118 Game Set".
the fuller in the blade
Great story!Thank you for the link, sportingspecialist. I'll look into that. I've always liked the blade style of the 119, but find it to be too big overall for my tastes. The 117 is very appealing, reminiscent of my Dad's old Western brand sheath knife from the 1950's.
That's a story in itself. My dad gave the knife to me in 1970. The snap on the keeper strap was broken, but typical for a 12 year old kid, I carried it anyway, and soon lost it. I assumed I lost the knife in the woods behind the house, where I spent most of my after-school time. I was always looking for it, but no luck. In 2001, my 12 year old son found it in the back yard. After 31 years of exposure, it was rusted beyond repair, but I treasure it. My son, Josh, was rewarded with a new Buck Woodsman.
