I was just looking for something in the garage and out popped me old Buck 119. I grabbed hold of it and surprised myself again how much of a solid blade this thing is. As you can see, it was the blade I learned to sharpen on. Check out the recurve action (thanks to Mr. Lansky) and lack of tip (thanks to Mr. Sharpmaker).

The gist of this thread is that you post three things, you have, you wish you have or will have. All three things must cost $100 or less. They don't have to be knives, these just happens to be my three things for this post!

You can post as many times as you like - just add different combinations of three things!!! Oh and they must be cumulatively valued at <$100!!!

Three things: Buck 119, Mora #1, Buck Diamondback guide

I had to do some thinking to come up with three at $100 that would at least be interesting.

I came up with these:
100.jpg

The large one is a Camillus 886 that I bought for my dad in 1987.
The Old Timer is a 8OT that I bought for my grandfather the same year ( I really miss the Hoffritz store)
And the Gerber LST Magnum Jr. is the first quality knife I bought for myself some time in the late 80's/early 90's.

As cheap as the LST was, it served well. My son carried it for a while 'til he got a Kershaw chive. It has dressed a turkey, more than its share of fish and has opened more mail and boxes than I can count. The tip is even polished from where I'd use the tip to clean excess compound of the buffing wheel when I detailed cars and boats on the side. Still one of the ground breakers in the pocket knife world and mine is still used from time to time.

A Vic Farmer, pack of Bic lighters and a Guyot bottle. With the change I'd stop by the Mom and Pop hardware store, pick up one of the small D-guard Ontario machetes. I'd borrow a file from them and re-profile the edge and get rid of the guard. Then I'd make a sheath for it out of a piece of scrap PVC pipe.

oo, Ill get a pic up when I can, but I would say a full sized fire starter, heavy duty space blanket and water purifacation tablets, I think all together still under $50 but still under $100. :D

My favorite "under $100 trio" would be my Estwing Sportsman's axe, Buck 110 and SAK Rucksack (actually bought my GI machete with the others too for under $100, but that would make 4 things ;) ).
