I ended up swapping out the ring to a larger/rounded coil split-ring and spending about 7 hours pulling that thing back - looping my index into the ring, I can push out with the thumb and middle finger on the blade - and wrist snap it out. Without that bending, there is not a way I could figure out how to

Mine was super stiff too.
I used a screwdriver to bend the spring fore and aft of the pin. TBH I "think" the slight bend aft helped as much, if not more than the slight bend fore. The aft was/is harder to get the screwdriver under.
 
Just recieved a couple of thrifty items from the big knife store in TN, I finally pulled the trigger on one of the Marbles "exhibition grade" barlows. I got a real turd
The checkered was sanded all most all the way smooth on one side, there is uneven coloring in the bone, and a Crack at the center pin as right out of the box.
The blades are ok, at least no warped blades or blade rap, but cosmetically it looks like a second to me. I am going to reach out to them and see if I can get a replacement.

I caught this little one, no inscriptions or symbols on the blade, and I don’t remember the exact name of this pattern, the handle resembles a stockman, I assume it’s German or English production, this is the first time I’ve seen a brass liner lock only 1 blade, usually a screwdriver and an awl are locked
