Ok so I want to learn how to do a through bolt hidden tang knife. I usually just use a pin but I have a situation where the best option is to try a through bolt and threaded pommel. Basically what I'm asking is for any tips or ticks that help, pictures, links to YouTube videos. I've never done a blade like this so I'm looking for a method that will make it as stress free as possible. Thanks everyone for all the help I've gotten form you guys, I wouldn't be half the maker I am without it. :)

I don't intend to imply that this is the only way to do it, and I have only done it once with good results.

I'm sure others that do this frequently have better methods.

At least, the following link will get you thinking along the lines of how to get it done.

Basically, you need a threaded rod on the end of your tang which I accomplished with regular (high temp) silver solder, and a closely fitted cap on the butt which was formed from a plate of stainless steel and what started as a nut.

See HERE .

I filed a slot to hold the head of a screw to get the tread at the end of the tang, no solder.
Epoxied in place and filed flush.

Not the best pic but you'll get the idea
