I got a 30$ gift card for amazon.com and I want to start throwing. Any1 know any on there???

My first real thrower was the True Flight, hands down worth it to buy, when i get a little more money i'm going to buy a few more, it's my favorite cold steel thrower.

Wow, I was in exactly the same boat a couple weeks back. I got a Cold Steel Perfect Balance Thrower for $18-somethin' and I love it (in spite of some minor service issues). However, if I had it to do over, I'd prolly go with a set of three knives just for the reps because unless I'm also throwing my bo shuriken, I'm walking A LOT. United Cutlery had a decent-looking set in that range that I had a recommendation for but passed on - a little remorseful about that now.

Ultimately went with the CS PB Thrower b/c I liked it for its other features, too. It's a nice combination of steel, point, profile, and belly in a good hefty knife for nice and cheap. The blade can take some serious torture (the plate screws not so much : ). If you throw hard like I do, you might want to pick up some paracord.

*If you have kids, you might want to contact someone before it ships. Amazon did NOT include a requirement for an adult to receive delivery, which bothered me for for safety and legal reasons.

The Boker Magnums I found were either a folder or a stick tang fixed blade neither of which is good for throwing, and they were a tad short for a new thrower. Maybe you meant a Boker Ziel? I've heard good things about it, but you're not going to get a set of three with a $30 gift card, not on Amazon anyway. You might find a single for that.

The compact version of the Ziel throwing knife, by John Bailey. This model, with its smaller dimensions, is incredibly easy to handle and to throw. Made of 420 stainless steel, and comes complete with a leather sheath with belt/boot clip and eyelets, to allow various attachment/carry options. Thickness: 3/16". Overall length: 8-7/8". Weight: 7 oz. Made in China.

Gotcha. Wondered if it wasn't something like that. FYI, "Magnum" doesn't return the Ziel or Mini Ziel in a search on Amazon (which wouldn't mean anything if the OP didn't have a gift card for it).

I'm with psychlops on the "mini" part, especially when starting out.

?????

Blade Length: 9"
Overall Length: 13 3/8"
Steel: 1055 Carbon
Weight: 18.3 oz
Handle: 4 3/8" Long
and I always thought throwers were supposed to be Tougher (softer?) than other fixed knives (or bayonets).

Blade Detail: Plain Edge Blade Length (inches): 6.75 Blade Material: Black 1055 High Carbon Carry System: Cordura Nylon Sheath Handle Material: Paracord Wrapped Overall Length (inches): 12.00

Helpful to have actual specs.
You want a thrower to be soft enough to not chip, but not dead soft. It gets deformed and takes a set from flat strikes.

A spring temper is good. The Cold Steel True Flight Thrower is short, soft, and crappy.

The specs I gave were for the (Edit) Sure Balance Thrower, they are correct for that knife.
As far as the True Flight is concerned I don't consider 12" as being short. As to it's worth as a thrower I think the reviews sum it up well

Toss in your 0 out of 5 stars and it is still a favorite among most throwers.
If you like throwing Bayonets that's cool but they are not "throwing knifes" they are better described as "knives that can be thrown" and would not be allowed in any throwing Competitions That I know of and would become damaged pretty fast I think.

What you imagine is not reality.

I speak from personal experience with the blades in question.

Most throwers buy super cheap knives, and never throw quality blades. To a kid used to throwing BudK sets they are probably impressed quite easily. Like I said in my first post, they are not the worst thing on Amazon. The ratings are worth a grain of salt.

Well, while these guys duke it out over the TF, I have thrown the living crap outta my CS Perfect Balance, and all I've managed to do is roll the edge a little, which I really shouldn't keep sharp for throwing anyway(unfortunately, sharpening is a compulsive habit I have no control over). Also, it appears to be selling for a couple bucks less than I originally paid for it. Affiant sayeth naught further.

+1 (Edit) Sure Balance is my preferred Thrower. I have 6 of them that I throw just about every day. The tear the hell out of 4x6"

I would however wrap the handle plates with a couple-three layers of tape if it suits you. The screws are susceptible to breaking, but the tape will tend to absorb enough shock to overcome this. I like bright colors to make it easier to find in the grass if I miss.
