I guess this has probably been said already but I'd be about as likely to throw my knife as to throw my rifle! Once it's out of your hand, you can't do much with it. If it's only out of your hand because it's in your sheath, you at least can pull it out and use it. If it's out of your hand because it's flying away from you at fifty miles an hour...I think it's pretty well useless for the time being!
