Alright guys and girls in the red corner the Case Stockman CV & in the blue corner the Buck 301c....which one gets the pocket time....BEGIN!

Thats a tough one for sure.
Right now I'm EDCing a Buck 301,so I would go with the buck. I EDCed a Case Stockman for years, but I've lost that first love with it.

Gotta go with the Case on this one. Something about that CV steel that just begs to be used.

I gots a pocket on both sides of my pants........
Boy, that was an easy one.
Next question, please.

Well...the only Case stockman I have right now is an Amber Bone and for some reason I just can't bring myself to carry it. I know...I know...but it's just so darn puuuurdy. :p. I think I need to get me a yeller stockman in CV. Now that one...I would carry without a second thought.

I have been dropping a 303 in my pocket almost everyday here lately, and although it isn't a stockman, I picked up a 305 Lancer earlier today (I'm amazed at how tiny the Lancer is). I really like that Buck...it's just the right size so it doesn't feel like I'm carrying a brick and it isn't so "nice" that I don't want to carry it. I feel that it's just a good all around working knife. I also have a yeller 309 coming in the mail in a few days.

You may just have to drop one of each in either pocket for a while and see which one you seem to reach for the most. That would be the one to choose.

I carry an Amber bone Stockman everyday, But in the opposite pocket is an Amber bone Canoe. So I can not carry a buck.

I am pretty much with him. I do lean a tad to the cv, but the 301 is just as good of a knife. I often have a 305 in one of my pockets. One of them is a standard Lancer and the other has scissors instead of the smaller blade.

I'd call it a draw between those two, but I am more partial to the Case CV Medium Stockman and the Buck 303. To me that Case feels better in hand, but the 303 carries better in pocket.

Wow, tough choice.

I love my Case peanuts, but as far as a stockman, a hard working pattern if ever there was one, I have to go with the Buck. I carried one from '67 to the mid 90's and have too much history in too many places with it. In two and a half decades of steady use, I threw everything at it that a pocket knife could be expected to deal with, and it never failed me. Can't turn my back on that!

Carl.

I've carried Buck knives for so long that engraved in my head is a picture of a Buck stockman attached to the term "pocket knife".

Like Carl, I spent a whole lot of years carrying one knife every day. In my case a Buck 303.
I've got lots of others these days, but I still find myself carrying a Buck 301 more often than not.
