Hello everyone. I'm looking for a good tomahawk for throwing. Thats all I'm going to use it for. I don't want anything expensive, around $20. Thanks for your help :)

Cold Steel hawks can be found for around that much. As good as any for throwing.

Not hawks, But I got a fiberglass handled hatchet for throwing from Harbor Freight for $6 that's tough as nails. Kinda heavy for some, though.

I started with a cheapo from Crazy Crow. Made in India beaters but I still have 3 of them and throw them several times a week. On sale, they will set you back about 20 bucks with shipping. Get some extra handles too.

Cold steel hawks are a great value. I have custom made hawks and imports and the cold steel hawks are as good as any and better than most.

I dunno it's a little more than CS (tho nowhere close to ATC) but if I where you i'd drop maybe 40 and buy a H&B forge hawk or Fort Turner (both a little under 40). I just say because like many I started with CS and they come loose a whole lot more than other hawks and can be damn frustrating. Unless your into the whole customization thing you may end up regretting a CS but most likely not a FT or H&B. Plus their hand forged rather than cast

Handles are always a temporary thing with me. I throw hard and competitively. the people I throw with like to play handles, split who ever throws firsts handle. I usually through three hawks at an end and I split my own handles often. Soooo two minuets with a knife or rasp on the handle and the fit is much better. But do your self a favor and buy extra handles or as I do make extras.
Another reason I like cold steel is there all the same. I don't have to grind the blade to get them to match. A consideration when you throw groups of hawks.

Thanks for the link! Of those, which specific tomahawks would you reccomend?

Do you know what the one game is called where one person throws a hawk, then the next person calls "left" or "right" then throws it to either the left or right of the first hawk, the the last person has to "split" the two other hawks by getting in between them. If you mess up then you get a letter, kinda like horse. Do you know the name of that game?

I own an H&B Shawnee that I got with the straight arrow spike, the one from their medieval axe. I like it it's kind of fun to try to stick the spike end, extra money tho. You couldn't go wrong with just the standard Shawnee but they'll all throw pretty well so whatever you/your wallet like best would work well. Possible exception is their Viking axe, a friend of mine owns it and it throws alright but it's pretty heavy, a real hucker. Fort Turner hawks are a little lighter and have narrower blades and thinner handles but would be quicker. I have a FT Iroquois on the way that I could tell you more about soon. Anyway like I said tho they'd all do real well so go with whatever you like most and I'd suggest H&B if you want a heavier thicker axe and FT if you want a lighter quicker one. In my opinion their worlds better CS out of the box tho. Also since their hand forged you could get something custom from them if theirs a certain design you like.

CS's trail hawk is what I use aswell. Quality tool. Though I do not throw it.

What about the CS Norse hawk?

I have the CS Norse hawk. I like it a lot. It doesn't get used as much as my other CS frontier hawks. I have 5 of the fronter hawks that way I through more and walk less. But I like the Norse hawk a lot. The Norse hawk is not an approved tip of hawk at some of the American mountain man events that I go to, But I would have to say that it is one of my personnel favorites.
As far as the other hawks being better, well I have most of the hawks you can name and I cant say there better, just more expensive.
