Lately I have been hearing a lot of talk of throwing Busses. I have thrown knives for the past year or so and am not half bad ;) . I was wondering if any of you have any real information regarding throwing these beasts. Would it be intelligent to throw my EU-17 Magnum at my throwing board? I know Busses are built to widstand everything but throwing them seems to me to be too much. I do not want to break my knife but also want to see this bad ass fly through the air and realy THUNK into the boards. What should I do?

Give it a shot.
I know you're anxious to buy another Busse ;)
Give it a shot.
Someone's got to be the first......
Give it a shot.
They are the toughest...........
Yeah, DO IT!!!!

Thanks Walking Man for the advice. I am going to wait though until I get a consensus.

If I do this, and the knife breaks, can I use the unconditional lifetime warrantee?

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... If you break your knife throwing it, I WANT to know how :D ;)

Busse Warranty: If you unintentionly break your knife, they will replace it.

Break your knife throwing it.... Thanks great :D lol

One problem, if it is a mil-overun blade and their were limited numbers produced, how am I guaranteed a EU-17 Magnum?

I'm sure Jerry would take care of you.... He always does

I agree with KAAK, Jerry takes care of everyone.

Now on to your idea of throwing an EU-17 Magnum. I haven't held one but I'm confident from its looks that its a rather heavy knife. Then you would have to combine that with it not being anywhere near balanced for throwing.

You can try it if you want but I'd make sure Fluffy wasn't anywhere forward of you when its released....god knows where it will go.

Is this to say that if I some how manage to damage or destroy the knife then it will be replaced?

Also, I am sort of not sure what intentional damage is. I know what the word means I am just not sure how it works in this setting. Also, how would I get a replacement of a blade that he may not have any left of?

Your questions are good and to be honest no one on this forum other than the shop employees can answer them for you. I know what I believe they would do, but I'm not even going to post it since I have no experience to back it up. I'd call or email the shop and see how they would handle it. You made a good point of it being a limited military overrun...I don't know if that would come into play or not.

Thanks Dark Nemesis. No experience, mmm, that means these things must be tough. When you say "the shop" do you mean email Busse Combat via their website? Once again, thanks.

Just got off the phone with the shop. I must say, excelent customer service. I was helped very quickly, professionally, and efficently. Supposedly, NO ONE has ever broken an EU-17 Magnum... seems like a challenge. :D

If I find a way to damage it, I will get shop credit for purchase price. Most excelent (another lame expression of mine).

I was surprised when he (who?) knew that my last was La and even that I was from Canada. How is this possible?

The shop most likely keeps up with the forums. As for a challenge, if you try to break it and by some magical powers from the hair of polar bears breaks it, I wouldn't ask for a replacement. Just my opinion

Not beating on it for all it's worth... That's another story

And Tonight, I'll throw my mistress against some 2X4's and post pics

It really says a lot about a company that takes the time to know their customers. I was even asked if I was going to go to Blade. I would really like to see the pics of the BM vs. 2x4

If I can I will take some pics of the EU-17 Magnum and the boards.

Edited to add: Is it true Mr. Busse handles all customer service calls?

Peter,

Great speaking with you. No, I don't personally handle all customer service issues. Our offices are closed on Friday and everybody else was drunk! ;)

I never recommend throwing a knife that wasn't designed for it unless the circumstances dictate otherwise.

On a point of clarity, it is important to note that our warranty covers our original selling price of the knife not necessarily the purchase price if it was bought on the secondary market. There are Older Busses that now sell for over 7 - 8 times their original selling price!

Thanks,

Jerry

Is everyone that is affiliated with Busse Combat into the sauce? ;)

Thank you for the specific details regarding price on the secondary market, that was my concern. Thanks again.

Mr. Busse, while you are online would you mind explaining something to me?

What exactly does Extraction Unit 17 do?

Thanks for taking the time to deal with my questians.

That's what I remember Jerry saying from a few years back. I remember he used the example of the Knight Light.

They go for around $1000-$1200 now on the second-hand market, but originally sold for like $250. If you take one out and manage to bust it, don't expect a $1000 worth of Busse knives, expect $250 worth.

Oh, and that $250 worth of Busse knives comes from current production, NOT the exact same model that you managed to bust.

(at least that's how I remember Jerry's old post on the subject.)

I really like those Knight Lights
Anyone have a pic of one? I know their was an article on badmojo but now I cannot find it.
