Which one do you prefer? Thumb stud or thumb disc? I prefer a thumb stud because I just don't happen to like where thumb discs are placed on the blade and I just don't like how they feel. Can't really explain it but that's me what about you guys?

Stud/spydie hole all the way, I cant flick open a blade with a thumb disk to save my life...

The easiest to open is my old Camillus CUDA. Some like my TOPS [made by FOX opened easily but difficult to close until I modified it. ] In general your first thumb joint should be bent 90* to open easily.

Don't like a thumb disc. It looks like the stud broke off and someone spot-welded on a washer.
Not for me.

i prefer dual thumb studs. i find the positioning of most discs to be cumbersome compared to a stud.

Neither. Flipper function or Spydie hole all the way.

Ill agree that a flipper or spydie hole would beat both but I was just comparing those 2 but if this thread was about any (stud, disc, hole, flipper etc.) then I'd probably say the same ( if I had to choose. Flipper)

Esthetically: thumb disc; comfort, ease and fun: Spydie hole or flipper.

Not sure how much of a preference I have between the two but I would go thumbstud. The Spydie hole and thumb stud come close for it to me in ranking, flipper wins it hands down and I think the auto comes in 2nd or ties with the flipper, it may just depend on the knife.

I like them all, including the "Wave". I'm not really too much into flicking since I edc a Sebenza.

Studs, I feel ya on the disc and the placement most of the time, but to me they are ugly, oversized and did I say ugly?

For quite some time, my EDC folder was a little Guidesman with a disc, and I preferred that to thumb studs. In fact, when I ordered my CS Recon tanto folder, I was pretty bummed out that it was the newer style with studs instead of the disc I was expecting. However, I haven't bought another disc-equipped knife since the Guidesman, so at this point I really don't care either way now. I'll take a flipper over either, anyway.

Usually disks are pretty sharp and rough on thumbs. Studs are much easier to flick. A flipper or wave is the easiest to use. The Spyderhole is really easy, but is usually somewhat sharp, but butchers aesthetics on most knives.

I prefer studs and a flipper/wave. Best of both worlds.
