Most of my other knives that have thumbstuds appear to be double by default, while on the Sebenza it's an option.

NOW don't misread that, for myself, if I could, I'd make them all single thumbstuds, with the ability to move from one side or the other and here's my reasoning, with the double thumbstud, as is on my Benchmade Contego, when I pull the knife out of the pocket, the one thumbstud, one that I'd not be using, would or could catch on the pocket and start opening the blade, when I am NOT expecting to have it open, I've been lucky not to have been cut yet with that knife. I had a few Sebenza's that I did end up stabing myself without being aware that the blade had partially opened, colour me a little upset ;) my current Sebenza/Insingo has a single :) so I was wondering how many folks insist on double thumbstuds?

I know of the one reason being if you HAD to open the knife with your 'other' hand, you'd be able to access it via that side's thumbstud, while it's not as easy, it can be done with the one thumbstud.

So a small poll of sorts for you guys and gals,

I prefer a single thumbstud. I have about 5 or 6 knives, including Sebenzas, with double thumbstuds and I have NEVER needed to use the other thumbstud on any of them.

I waffle but I think that comes down to me not really caring. However I do think that the single stud is simple and elegant.

I want dual ONLY of the blade is drilled for that side. I hate when a knife has ambi studs and no ambi clip.

I actually like both, but i prefer a simple single;) As I'm sure most know, the new single studs, have a dimple on the backside, similar or almost identical to the lanyard pins two sides dimple. To me the dimple on the thumb stud looks bad. I liked the previous ones that were smooth and flush with the blade.

For looks I'd rather have two but in the real world the sebenza isn't really designed for two studs IMHO.

Lemmuhj, I figured that was to make it easier to press out if need be, that dimple there but I'm with you, flush looked nice, especially when it was anodized ;)

and Ray, I love waffles :)

I prefer a single with the ability to easily swap sides. 2 isn't necessary for me, because I can only use 1 at a time.:). Of course if I used clips, I'd only prefer one of those too.:D

Its all in the wrist. ;)

Seriously though, one is all I need, but a second thumb stud would be good for those rare times that I might need to open the knife with my left hand.

dual all the way. Like having the option to open it with my other hand. As of yet have had no issues with a thumbstud snagging the inside of my pants and opening(knock on wood).

My edc has double thumb studs. I hardly ever use the second one but have to say that I prefer having it there anyway.

So double is the go........

Unless it is a knife bound for the collection in which case it does not bother me as I have a few of both.

Single stud is sufficient for me and IMHO it looks better.
If it was an option, I'd go for the hole.

Having said that, I hurt my rigth hand lately and was thinking about the double studs - but then I hae some other knives, if need be.

PS: As stated before I can manage to open the single stud Sebie with my weak hand too.

I like double thumbstuds and single.

I've noticed I've never really used the other stud though on the Sebenzas I have with double and I can actually open the ones with single studs using either hand so...I'm in the don't care one way or the other category.

I voted "don't care" as it seems I like them single and double and never seem to seek out one over the other.
Doubles do look symmetrically pleasing though.

I still think the Emerson thumb disc is the best way to go.

But I voted "don't care" because it depends on the knife and style. I like that the CRKs usually come with 1 and I like the symmetry that 2 gives.

I voted for double lugs, my small insingo has a single lug and it is the only thing that I would change about it. I love the fact that my Umnumzaan has double thumb studs by default. I know that for me it is a matter of symmetry, but also I had shoulder surgery a year ago and ever since i have tried to be ambidextrous and so I equally open my knives with either hand.
