Just so you know deals can sour in the southern hemisphere as well, cutler34 of outdooredge has managed to stiff both myself and the lovely Larry of bladeart in the one deal. Very disappointing, as a previous deal (were I bought locally to help our online knife trade flourish) went well. The problem is crawling towards a resolution but dates back to September, all over a Spyderco Civilian.

I wish I'd taken Ferret's warning but I didn't and I have only myself to blame. I sent cutler34 a Blanchard ProVenator which he received on 12th Jan and said he would send me a MO on the following Monday. I have still not been paid and he is not answering my emails. The last word I had from him was on 5th Feb when he said he was going to send the money the next day. I've told him that I don't want the money anymore and to return the knife but he has not replied so I can only assume he has sold it already.

If you deal with cutler34 make sure that you have his end of the deal in your hand before you send him anything or you may well end up in the same situation as I find myself.

Post Script I finally got a money order from Ricki (cutler34) a couple of days ago. It's over 2 months since I sent him the knife. During that time there have been a littany of excuse, numerous ignored emails and a MO which apparently went missing, but still took 3 weeks to be replaced. Will I deal with him again? Yeh, when hell freezes over.

And that's the polite, restrained version...my ears are burning! A shame when the sole local online guy drops the ball

Admittedly, 3 weeks is the right time for a replacement Money Order, but it has Replacement or Second copy written on the check, so you know if its an original or not.

I've just cancelled an order from him, now will I get my money? Damn straight, a couple of days then "Can I have a disputed transaction form" gotta love credit cards, no signature, no proof? Refund for sure.

Following the above.

I finally got my money back, but only when a week after the cancellation of the order with no refund in sight, I informed Ricki that I would be asking my credit card company to pursue a refund, and the police to investigate my being charged for an unsent parcel AND Zen Imports the Australian distributor telephoned him following my letter to them. Hey presto, a cheque was mailed the same day.

Incidentally, the price for the knife I ordered on his website has jumped by ~$20, guess I now know why it was never sent.

Clay and Ferret,
Yes the situation was out of control and it was resolved but slowly.

You were refunded at your request when I couldn't get the goods to you overnight, due to you being away. This was after a situation out of my control. There were many facts in dispute but the fact remains you were refunded when I said.

Doesn't he sound reasonable. The facts in dispute are now available online for your reading pleasure.

Would you care to publish that ever elusive Registered Post Number here. Show everyone that you really sent a parcel or leave quietly!

On the 1/4/01 I placed an order with Outdoor Edge Knives, for 2 Spydercards, a Spyderco C48 Tim Wegner PE and an Ezfold diamond sharpener. I was told that the C48 was being ordered and was expected on 4/4/01. I was later told that the knives had been sent via registered post on 6/4/01. Briefly, after the parcel hadn't arrived by 17/4/01, and a number of communications with OE the order was cancelled on 20/4/01. OE insisted that the original parcel had been sent, but declined five invitations to provide the registered post details. A refund was not provided until after bank and police investigations had been mentioned.

One bad turn deserves another, someone reminded me of bad online merchants. So I tht I'd update the links since the business is still running (Must have a day job :) )

The Geocities link no longer exists for some reason, the pages are now
here,
