Anybody figured out a good finishing method for this material where the wires don't end up being an issue?

Made a little kitchen knife to test this material a while back and every so often I get skewered by a brass wire, not one barely sticking up, but one that was laying down that eventually gets dislodged.

Any insight appreciated.

A great method is to not use it, or other materials that can harm you.
Other than that, I can't help.

I learned the same lesson. I ordered some 1/4" thick texallium sheet and made a three knife set in stainless damascus. Expensive material, and not suitable for knife handles in my opinion. I finally got it sanded to a smooth enough finish, but I don't trust it enough to sell to someone. The set will become household knives, I guess.

I will never use it or any of the similar laminates again.

I heard that using a scotchbrite pad in hand can remove the wires that could pop up.

I have had great luck with Textalium but usually get it from Masecraft... it is as solid as can be.

I don't know Daniel. I definitely scotchbrite'd this one, and while it got all the wires that were an issue initially, I've had a few fresh ones pop up. Mostly they seem to be ones that were half ground thru and laying down completely.

I love the way this stuff looks, even though I'm not typically into synthetics, but I'm not sure I can use it much without dealing with the wire issue.
