Ok guys, here's something special! Most of you remember the Cow Bone 110's that were offered on the Web Specials page a short while ago. I bought a couple and decided that they would benefit from some art work.

Well, I'm thrilled with the way it came out. The artist that did the scrimshaw work for me was Leesa Martin, the lovely and talented wife of our own David Martin.

The subject matter for this one comes as sort of a tribute to my late wife. She was a liscensed wildlife rehaber that specialized in raptors. Of those, her favorite was the Barn Owl. The reason for that special attachnment was the fact that she hatched (in an incubator), six Barnies and raised them to maturity. They were released into the wild when they were grown and a couple of them even stayed around our place for sometime.

Thank you Leesa, it is wonderful!
Here it is.

Gotta love the barn owls.

That's the most expressive face of all the owls.

:)

Here's a few pictures of the critters that were the inspiration for this art work.

Thanks everyone. I am VERY proud of this one. There's another one (Camel Bone 500)that Leesa did for me with a different theme that's also pretty close to my heart. I'll be posting it soon. I planned on making it Thursday's Eye Candy #2, but I may wait until tomorrow.

Beautiful. The knife, the artwork, the pics of the owls, all of it.

I recently attended an exhibition on raptors, given by a local group that also specializes in the rescue & rehab of injured birds. A barn owl was among the 'featured guests', and it is indeed a fascinating bird, with what seems to be a very unique personality.

Well done, to all concerned, and thank you for sharing this with us.
