Ti-Lock and take-down

too lazy to type anything, let pics talk. Interesting mechanism, not sure if i like it or hate it.

Sweet. Great pics of the take down. I was never able to take mine apart beacuse I didn't have the right size bit for the pivot.
Didn't realize the washers had bearings in them. I like how their inset into the handle like that.

I wasn't too big on the Ti-lock but having played with one and seen what goes into it at BLADE I'm starting to like it a bit more. To me it seems like a slip joint/lock back with the spring along the spine of the blade rather than in the handle of the knife. The bearing washers are a real nice touch IMO, It's a cool knife, no two ways. :thumbup:

Can't help but think that it's just more complicated than a folder needs to be. Almost the exact opposite of a Sebenza.

I too wasn't sure if I would really like this knife but it's a keeper for sure. I like the fact that it's different to any other knife I have owned.

I still don't get the blue "bar" that attaches to the blade? I saw and held one at Blade, and it felt just like any other quality knife from CRK, but i didn't spend too much time cause i was checking out the rest of the lineup

Wow, very cool. There's a good amount of new stuff going on in there! The lanyard standoff thingie, the countersunk washers (Teflon with inset bearings no less), stonewashed handles, and most interesting to me, what appears to be a loose and "rolling" lock. Does it slide up and down and spin freely in the ti locking bar when disassembled?

Thanks for the kind words guys.
After playing with it for a day almost non-stop, i can now operate it single handed with no problem. However, it's still not as easy to operate as say the Sebbie. Given the blade profile and overall design, I'd say it's a XL Mnandi rather than a medium Sebenza.

I wonder how the locking mechanism will hold up over time though, i don't see any room for wear.

I agree. It is an interesting design exercise but for long term everyday use I still prefer the Sebenza.

The ti-lock's blue titanium bar will loosen up and break in over time. It will start to flex more and one hand opening and closing with be easier.
Its pretty neat with the bar storing up energy you can actually flick the knife closed.

Me too. I have never been a fan but all this talk lately of the Ti-Lock is making me want one. I had no idea that it used a bearing system.
