Ti-Lock?

My ti-lock came with instructions just like a sebenza...but then i bought new from an authorized dealer :) The instructions do not discuss disassembly, like most knives. Mine has yet to require any attention, other than cleaning, like after i used it to take the back out of a chicken for bbq. Why fix it if its functional?

I agree that it doesn't have to be disassembled to be cleaned...... but...... it's not going to void the warranty if you do take it apart

As others have said, the Ti-Lock is a uniquely attractive knife, with craftsmanship and a design that is most enjoyable to own and use. Its size and balance really took me by surprise and continues to delight. Perhaps my background as a physical scientist explains some of my attraction to this technically interesting design?

Chris Reeve's legendary workmanship and quality are of course an important part of its customer satisfaction, as with all the other knives they make. After owning mine for some months, I am beginning to better appreciate why CRK decided to manufacture this most interesting knife.

I look forward to acquiring my first Sebenza - it has its own unique qualities and character, too.

I have a Tilock in my rotation, and l absolutely love the knife! The simplicity is stunning, and it works great! As for the deployment of the knife...... It definately takes some getting used to, but onve you get the hang of it, onehanded handling is superb!!

One of the early (?) Ti Locks with blasted rather than stonewashed scales

Everything is subjective, right? It's not a good EDC. Great knife, yes. But it's not a good EDC. Anyone with the mindset can EDC it, but in a lineup of options you're grabbing the Ti Lock because you just feel like carrying it that day, you don't choose it as the logical choice amongst other offerings. Face it, the disclaimer says without saying it that the knife does not showcase a solid lock. But I bought one, I carry it every now and then, but don't think about applying it as I do my seb, para, delica, etc. I also don't plan on selling/trading it. It's a keeper for sure, but it's more a gem than an EDC.

Please enlighten, what does your tilock lack, your other knives do have
Compared to the sebenza lock, it'll be little weaker, undoubtedly. But how much difference will you notice in dialy use??

Not to run you opinion down, you're very much entitled to have yours, l'm just curious

Thanks,
Niels

"not an execise in ultimate lock strength" does not read as a disclaimer to me. Other than the lock it has the same materials as a sebenza.

To me it is a logical choice for an edc, particularly around sheeple since you can open and close it like a lockback if you desire. Its sealed construction and easy to clean design lends it perfectly for messy jobs, such a chicken. If you are multitasking, it's easy to flick open.

Sorry Brownshoe, but recommending people cut up chicken with a folding knife is irresponsible, as is calling the Ti-Lock a sealed design. The plastic cages that hold the ball bearings in the Ti-Lock do not constitute a seal, and are not intended as a seal, nor do I agree that the Ti-Lock spring bar can be easily cleaned of the bacteria and diseases that can be transmitted when cutting up meat. I don't really care whether the Sebenza or the Ti-Lock is best, but we should be looking out for each other on this forum, not giving each other dangerous advice based on some goal of promoting some one design over another. The Ti-Lock is not a sealed knife, nor is the Sebenza. Neither should be used to cut up chicken or pork, unless you plan of a proper and full disassembly afterwards.

Sorry, been cutten up thigs fer yeers wit me pocket nif never bin sik yet :). Cuttin chikin is one of my folder tests only problm kin bee swipjoints. Dr bonners peperymint soop en hot water kleenz all nifs gud. Evan da sbnza

I would like to get one of these as I appreciate the novelty of the design..It's clever AND unique..Hopefully soon.
But let's not kid ourselves..it's still a folding knife..like other folding knives the design doesn't really lend itself to the lazy when it comes to cleaning..Lots of places for stuff to hide as in surface area.
In my honest opinion, you would do no worse cutting chicken with the ti-lock or any knife that has fibrous materials such as G10 or micarta.

Dangerous? Sure..but then again, knife ownership itself can be a dangerous business..It take personal responsibility...Just like cleaning a chicken does ;)

Is this shocking grammar and spelling intended as some sort of slight ?.....Please try and behave like an adult if you wish to be treated like one. Posts like this are useless and are generally done to get a rise out of people, and we all know what those people are called, don't we. :)

Good points NVG/All. It lacks my total support of it as an EDC (so perhaps that's my shortfall, not the knife's). That's all. It's a fantastic knife, but its design and materials are what I find alluring. I don't consider it a practical EDC. And I live in the North mountains of PA and work often in Arlington North VA - the Ti-Lock does not work for the sheeple. My small regular and mnandi do though.

Two more cents: touting a $475 MSRP which doesn't seem to waiver plus a design that doesn't allow for different scale swaps and other tweaks leaves me admiring it more than EDCing it - and I do mean really EDCing it.

All that said, I recommend the purchase. And if you're bolder than me, EDC it like you would a Sebenza. :)

Then why doesn't CRK include the tools to disassemble it like they do all their other knives.

Write CRK and ask them whether or not they want you to take the Ti=Lock apart.

Go ahead.

Prove me wrong.

I'll wait........

psquared, Your older model blasted finish slabs look great.

I think I'm inclined to get a Ti-Lock, but after the madness of the buying frenzy is over. :DI have a package hung up in St Paul right now, seems it was "re-routed".:grumpy:

Well..thanks in part to this thread and a fellow forum member...my latest addition to the line up...

Only had it a couple days, but amazing ergonomics...and also, as mentioned earlier, the blade / handle ratio really is incredible.
The small Sebenza I find a little too small...this is the perfect size for a smaller knife for me...
