Ti rings made from SR-71 Blackbird parts

Seems they are electric and not hydraulic.

Very cool!

BTW, these are very cool! Thanks for sharing them with us.

But of course! And don't worry: swords and other blades are still being made! :] These rings are just so epic and legendary to me though, just as much so as the swords. I'm grateful to be the steward of continuing with Sgt. Freeman's SR-71 ring project.

Stress-relief of a formed, forged, welded blank made to contain a ring of exact size within. One of the many steps it takes to make one of these:

Another His and Hers set, made from Blackbird #972, which holds several all-time speed records. Blue "Edge of Space" oxide coloration.

Titanium alloy ring forged and fabricated from part of SR-71 Blackbird tail number 960. The photos are not able to capture how the colors look to the naked eye:

Latest ring: shiny interior, highly-buffed silvery Mission-flown Oxide outer face, with an anomaly - the weld is light pink! It's not obvious but is visible. I think it looks super cool. The reason for the difference in hue is because any change in the chemical composition of a titanium alloy alters how it looks when oxidized/anodized, even if the difference is very slight. When these rings are welded, the filler is more of the exact same piece of the exact same airframe, so the weldment is all identical titanium (a weldment is considered a single solid piece of metal). The little "filler rod" is held by stainless steel surgical forceps, and while welding, the tips of these clamps briefly edged into the plasma column of the Tig torch, and the highly-reactive liquid titanium stole a tiny bit of chromium from the stainless steel! This isn't likely to ever happen again, so it was left as-is because it looks sweet!

This was the ring before oxidizing. Of course the pink spot is invisible:
