Tic Tac Toe coding on Wusthof

Anyone have an idea how to read them or what they mean? Any website to look at that FOR SURE has that info? I've looked at most every site under a search of "Wusthof" and haven't found any info. Wusthof dealers - any help here?

Hi Dick,
Etched on the side of each blade is an elongated "tic tac toe" grid. (Left to right= space - vertical line - space - vertical line - space. Top to bottom = space - horizontal line - space - horizontal line - space - horizontal line - space) Then some of the blocks are filled in. It's different on each model of knife dependent on blade length, style - "boning", "fillet", etc.
I'm sure it's a code. And want to know if there's some site or literature to explain it. It could be coding such as style, length, who knows - hardness, or maybe a coded "manufactured by Hans" type thing. Any info is much appreciated!
