Anyone pick one these up yet? I'm to see what others may think of them, etc. I really like the look and size, but I'm personally waiting to see what other handle offerings may come.

Well my wish was answered! It seems just today, I was searching the usual GEC haunts, and saw a brand new "Blood red bone" Toothpick, Northfield brand. So, I ordered it :D

I've been wondering about those. I'm sure I'll end up getting a couple eventually. I'd really like one with the "banana peel" bone scales. Has anyone here ever handled one of the GEC toothpicks? I've been wondering how the springs are.

Edit: The burnt stag is in stock at one of the preferred GEC online dealers... in case anyone's interested.

The blood red one just popped up on Blue Creek today, and I hadn't seen it it elsewhere yet. I assume it will hit all the other sites. It's just I had to jump, they only had 3! :D I will post pics and my opinions on this pattern when it arrives.

I was reading that the spring is "stout." I wonder if it is even stronger than other models. I would like to get one, but I'll wait for the reports.

I wonder why GEC makes their springs so strong?

here are a few pics for you...

I don't think they are as stout of springs as others. Not as "perfect" as the Congress.

This will be 2 firsts for me, 1st pinched bolster, and 1st Toothpick! :D I think this might be my pumpkin carving knife this year.

Aargh. I couldn't take it. I broke down and ordered one of these too:

I couldn't help myself. That is one seriously good-looking knife. This is why I've been trying to stay away from Great Eastern for a while. I forgot myself and ordered one the other day, and two more have followed in rapid succession. GECs are addictive as all-get-out. Oh well. I may be broke, but I'm getting together a nice GEC collection.

I like those pinched bolsters on the Northfields! Must resist ... can't be ... weak ... like moonwilson. Arggggg!

It has just arrived! Less than 10 mins ago, I received the mail, and there it was. The color of the bone is amazing, the knife is a great size, the swedge is a very nice touch, and the pinched bolsters add a bit of class. And of course, the usual GEC stout construction. Now the iffy....it comes to me looking a bit like it was carried? It has very tiny what looks like carry marks on the mirror finish, and it is as sharp as a spoon. :P Also it does not have half stops. The knife is very easy to open compared to other GEC knives, more like a tight Case. Not sure if I want to keep this one, or trade it in for a Pioneer/Scout, or cuban, but I will give it some thought. It is a great looking knife, just for some reason not quite what I expected, or at least what I am used to in Great Eastern. (Stout springs, etc.)

The more I look at this, I wonder if I got an EDC by accident, as the blade has small scratches all over it as well, like they forgot to buff it out? Also has a few marks too deep to just flitz out on the blade. I think I will be returning this one to the dealer.
