Tidioute Toothpick

Got my Northfield toothpick in today. It's what they call Blood Red Bone. It's just stunning! I hope they offer this bone on other patterns.

I like that blood red bone a lot. It reminds me of the crimson bone on my Queen City canoe. Such awesome scales.

GEC toothpicks really cradle my palm and is my new favorite of their patterns. The springs ARE easier on the nails. Anyone else like the long-pull and nail-nick combo on the newest sunfish?

I came home last night to find this bad boy:

Yes indeedy. I'm not usually a fan of the toothpick, but I'm willing to make a huge exception in this case. It is absolutely gorgeous. And perfectly constructed, and wonderful in the hand.

How heavy is it? Is it pocketable? Really nice knife. I've never liked the toothpick until this GEC rendition.

Well, I couldn't take it. I up and bought one from TSAknives. Great deal at $70.50 shipped! I hope the springs arn't killer on this bad boy! I'm super excited! My first single blade slipjoint.

How is everyone liking theirs after having it for a while?

I've had mine for a day now, haven't had a chance to sharpen it though. Pics are in the GEC thread. I really like how the handle cradles the pinky. It's a very sure grip. Also, it's a nice size. I wasn't surprised by the size (big or small) when I got it. It's just right. The pull is nice and light compared to my other GECs. And no half stops! Woo!

Can you pinch open the Toothpick?

I can't on mine. It has swedges ground into the blade. The Tidioute models might...but the blade doesn't really protrude from the handle very far...about 1/4 inch. The springs aren't bad, though.

I can't. I don't even think you could without swedges. There's not enough blade above the handle.

Yeah, it's easy enough to open that it's no big deal. Like samhain I think said, it's kind of like a tight case.
