Been working on this bowie (still am), got mega inspired by Matt Lamey's bowies. Always wanted to do a coffin handle too, but hate how they are dead straight (haha) so I swept it a little. Hot punched the slot for the guard, then hot fit it to the tang. Pulled a piece of curly tiger stripe maple from my private stash, nicest maple I have ever seen personally.

Wow ! Sam can work with wood also! Very nice. Maple can have lots of fine types of figure ,my favorite .

He can be seen in action on BritishBlades in a BBC interview of Matt Stegmer.

Final glue up and clamp, just gonna do some staining on the handle, and some other stuff then done.

grrrrrr you stained it. lol I really love natural woods when there figured like that. the knife is still awesome tho.
someday I hope to be able to make a comparable one. congrats on a job well done.

Interesting lines on the blade, Sam. At first glance it seems a little off, but quickly exudes functionality. The downward curved handle is offset nicely by the upward curved blade. Full flat grind looks "right" on the whole assembly. When I saw the first picture, I immediately thought of a (pirate/hell's angel) using it to cut sausage. Then I scroll down and you have the picture of it cutting sausage! NICE!

Sam, why so dark ?? To me that takes away some of the beauty of the maple .

Robert I didnt mean it to go so dark, I can still sand and oil a bit to bring it out more.

thanks Idaho!

I like your interpretation. That has some elegance to it. Adding the gentle curves was a really good choice
