I was looking at Texas Knifemaker's Supply for some handle material and noticed the tiger coral. Seems I've heard somewhere before that coral is kinda fragile? If using it for a handle material does it need some kind of treatment to make it more durable?

Thanks!

I think if you look at the Tiger Coral they have it might be reconstituted stone. If so then they are essentially stabilized.

Ground up, mixed with resin and fillers, poured into a form and cured. Sliced up and called "coral".
Enough said
