Tiger Hide

Now I'm thinking Tiger Hide came in both canvas and linen varieties. Most often the Busse website just said "tiger hide micarta," without specifying whether it was canvas or linen. ...
You are correct – tiger hide micarta has been offered in both canvas and linen. I never thought about it until someone mentioned it on this forum years ago; I always thought the difference in appearance was due to how each model's handle was cut and finished.

Tonight I did a quick check of some of my knives with tiger hide micarta, and here is what I found:
- Leaner Meaner Street LE, BATAC LE & SJTAC LE – canvas tiger hide
- ASH1 LE – linen tiger hide
I compared the ASH1 LE to a Boney Active Duty (BAD) with green linen micarta, and the fibers in both knives have the same pattern – the fibers in linen micarta have a more dense pattern than on the canvas tiger hide.

I will try to photograph these knives in the daylight, and hopefully I can capture the difference I mentioned above.

Pretty sure all the sar ,4,6,8 andGe7 sizes are linen. Except maybe the 3. That maybe canvas. Don’t have any more to check:(

Really interesting stuff gentlemen! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Next important question is of course, when will it make a reappearance? ;)

Well I would think after loosing the process for making snakeskin they would have realized to document future type patterns...
