I bought my SOG Tigershark bowie from the Cutlerly shop catalog when I was stationed in Panama around 1993. I paid around 100 dollars for it, and due to the fact that I was a USAF aircrew member that spent time flying over places where I'd need survival equipment, it made sense to get a hefty bowie.
When the knife showed up in the mail, it took my breath away by its size. I immediately entertained thoughts of selling it, maybe to a grunt stationed with the army aviation units, or to whom ever. After a bit of time I rationalized why it would be good to have a knife like this, that weighed over 16 ounces, one that could chop, smash, and also play a defensive role if things got really bad. I was always impressed by the way this knife held an edge. I carried this knife for the next decade while I performed my Air Force duties in the air.
My knive has the cordura sheath and a gun-metal (not powder coated) finish, with no serrations in the blade. Here's a pic:
She's a great knife, and I've hardly cut a thing with her, but she shows some sheath wear and the sheath itself shows some wear (this giant bowie has gone around the world with me a couple of times).
Thought you guys might like to see a different version of this knife.
