Tiger Striped BK2/BK9 Grivory X2 (UPDATED)

Damn....

You going rambo on us or what????

Looks pretty sweet
Love camo/OD, can you tell? :D Thanks brother.

Interesting looking paint job there Dubz. Looks good!

Thank you sir.

The whole setup is killer, but the scales are lookin' super tough!

Well done!
Thanks Mikey, appreciated.

You might want to tie a strobe light to it or something. You drop that in the bush, and you are screwed. :D
Hopefully I'll notice there's a 1 pound slab missing from my thigh. :D

LOL, i can hardly see it in the pics with all that camo !!! Being serious, i am partially color blind & it SUCKS !!!

Great job on the handles though & great pics too !!!
Thanks TS.

flat-out awesome, like almost to the point of I-want-that awesome.
Thanks BRL.

If I said the grips were ugly would that show my jealousy in how killer they truly are?
Appreciate the compliment.

Man, I have seen a lot of awesome Becker mods lately(I'm a bit of a newbie to Beckers, but have quickly become obsessed!), but something about this one just really does it for me. Awesome work, & great pics! I know it would probably be a lot of work, but any chance you could put up a step by step post, with any pics you night have taken during the process? Also, that sheath is sick, what is it? did you mod that at all too? Fantastic work, man, very well done!
Derek posted the link to my sheath mod above. Didn't take any photos of the process, but it wasn't overly difficult, just took a little patience is all. Remove the scales. Washed and dried them thoroughly. Put some of that blue painters masking tape on the scales. Used a Sharpie and drew the pattern. Then lined both scales up, and made marks at the top and bottom of the undrawn set, to make sure the stripes matched up. Drew the stripes on that scale. Took an Exacto knife, and cut it out. This works better with a fresh Exacto blade, and also works better if you get as many air bubbles out as you can beforehand. Took Krylon Fusion OD paint, and painted them. Remove tape. Voila! Like I said, not too hard, but takes some patience. Thanks for the compliment, btw.

Great looking job, very well done.

I really think the tiger stripes are so cool, Ive seen other knifes with the blades done like that, or sprayed over a mesh to make a sort of pattern...its nice to look at...

Very nice work! I really thought you would have gone for some other color though.....like OD green or something. That olive drab just doesn't look right on it. I think you should try it agian with OD. :D lol

If the world ever runs out of everything OD we know where to find it, he's got big knives, and we won't see 'em coming.

pretty cool :)

i want to get some of that mil-spec bake on paint and try some things sometime. esp on micarta.

Thanks. Well, initially I thought about going with OD, but in the end, OD won over, so I went with it.

Thanks. If you do, lets see some photos please. I thought about doing this to my 9 as well.

Man that look's good!!!!. You should do one in orange, just love the black and orange!!!!!.

wouldn't it be easier to just tape the scales together and then cut out the pattern? that way you are absolutely sure its gonna match up, then paint it while they are still together. Looks good though! I know you just did this but do ya think its going to chip or wear off? Or is that Fusion stuff pretty rugged?

I thought about taping them together, but I only wanted one layer of tape on the scales. Way easier to cut. Way easier to paint as well with the scales separated. Fusion paint is pretty rugged stuff. But if it wears off, it's really not that big of a deal. I thought about stressing it anyways.

Just put tiger stripes on my BK9 as well. They turned so damn much better than the first, that I put them on my BK2. Waiting for my camera battery to charge a bit, then I'll get some photos to post. I wish the first ones turned out as good as these did.

WOW!! Nice work, they look great!!

Awesome work man !!!

those look trick'en'dickular......

If you want to save a little time and not worry about cutting the grivory with a razor, get some pinstiping tape at an automotive store this will shave MAJOR time off your project if you were to it again, or if/when it wears off..

you can move the tape in any direction you want, super pliable..

Sweet.

In other news, the world is currently experiencing a shortage of OD Green forcing the US Military to consider switching to John Deere Green to keep up with color demands. Experts say the shortage is being caused by a large spike in the consumption rate of OD Green due to The Warrior modding his knives.

Thanks. I used to pin stripe cars at a car dealership I worked at years ago. May have worked okay for the first job I did, but the second, with all the wavy, and uneven width lines, would have been difficult.

Sweet.
