No, not the golfer, the handle material. Tiger wood is a flooring wood from South America. It usually has a lot of character but this piece is a little unusual with the curl and cross grain.
I really don't know what style to call this knife; maybe a bowie ground hunter?

Ooooh - nice one! I'm a fan of high character woods and burls like this, but never saw one out of tigerwood before. The wood colors and depth work really well with the brass pins and guard. Great shaping on the blade and handle, too. More tigerwood knives, please.

Gerry, I got the Tigerwood knife today and the pictures do not do it justice. This is a beautiful piece. The Tigerwood makes a great looking handle, all the swirls and burls or whatever they are. The workmanship is outstanding too. Thanks for a great knife.
