Tight Pivot

I've got several Spydies with super smooth pivots (Manix, Paramilitary, Native) and some that are smooth, but less so (Stretch).

I just got an etched Dragonfly and it is really tough to open. So much so that its tough to use the Spyderhole to open the blade.

Is there any way to loosen it? I have tried using a lube (Nyogel) and it helped, but it is still pretty rough opening.

Thanks for your help.

Nyogel's a bit thicker than I'd use personally. I don't think that's the cause of your problem though. It might just be you've got one that was made a little too tightly. Try a thinner lube, and if the problem persists, send it in.

My Military in S90V was so tight it almost took 2 hands to open it...fortunately the adjustable pivot screw made that a non-issue...;)

I'd try a thin lube like Tuf-Glide (really a dry lube ultimately because the petroleum base evaporates) and lots of opening and closing...if that doesn't loosen it up, it's time for Customer Service.

Ray :)

I think I've seen the etched Dragonfly once maybe it is the extra friction from the etching process adding to the problem.

Open and close it about 500 times, and it should wear in nicely. I had to do the same thing with my Kopa. Now it's perfect. The tolerances just need to wear together.

Thanks for the recommendations. It is already somewhat smoother. If it doesn't eventually get there, I'll think about sending it in.
