Tightest Locking Folders

SpydercoPhoenixMark.jpg

That handle scale looks amazing!
The Phoenix was a good looking knife before, but that's good.

Anything frame lock, but Tenacious is very strong too. (Edited to add: I don't own any real high end folders. For any super hard use I just go for FB.)

For it's size, an all SS Dragonfly has an extremely strong lockup. Could well be my tightest lockback.

I only have one high end folder, an Emerson CQC-8, but it locks up very nicely.

So does my Tenacious, but it certainly doesnt have the strength and heft of the Emerson.

Ontario RAT 1. Amazingly solid, absolutely no movement in any plane when locked open. And affordable, too.

All the customs that I own, lock up like a bank vault. If they didn't, I wouldn't have them. I own mostly frame locks & one Scott Sawby self-lock.

What he said, except I don't collect customs. Almost all of my knives have good, solid lockup. My Sebenzas lock up good and tight, that's the obvious answer, but several of my Spydercos lock up completely solid as well. Manix, Manix 2, Yojimbo, Paramilitary etc. Solid lockup is solid lockup.

My tightest locking folder is my Opinel No. 8

It is extremely tight, and when the humidity is high and the wood swells, it is insanely tight.

My MOD Tempest has absolutely no blade play. It was my first real knife and now I compare all my others to it.

I just recently got a Cold Steel Large Espada.
I am really impressed with the Triad Lock!
Not only does it make one heck of a CLACK! when opened,
it requires a really large depression of the lock release to close.
Never had a lockback I was this impressed with.
The only one closest is my Katz Cheetah.

All of mine lock pretty tight. My S&W Extreme Ops it probably the most secure. You can hear the lock snap in place 20 feet away.

Thinking about this further - as a previous poster said, all my knives lock up really tight.

Because if I receive a knife that has any "play" whatsoever, it goes back to the seller for a refund/exchange or off to the manufacturer for a repair.

Lambert custom Inferno Frame lock and Umnumzaan. My Axis locks have all been gret as well. Never a problem with any of my BM liner locks either.

Frame lock Böker Wharcom is really sturdy. No play and real manly click when its locked. You would not expect such sound from so small knife.

Were talkin zero blade play up and down against lock and spine, right?
All my frame locks buck mayo, cuda edc, kershaw od1 and storm. For my liner locks, emerson commander and spydy tenacios are about as solid as the frame locks.
My axis locks would be next best followed by lock backs wich actually all have some blade play, with the best i got being a cold steel ultimate hunter.
